The term ‘illegal immigrants’ confuses Pelosi on healthcare

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested five teens within 24 hours last week for the attempted smuggling of narcotics strapped to their torsos and legs. The CBP noted some teens are US citizens. There’s a telling response in Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) response to a question about what the reporter called ‘illegal immigrants’ during a Real Clear Politics interview. Here’s the exchange:
KING: What about illegal immigrants, what should happen to them if we have national health care reform? Should they be able...
PELOSI: I'm sorry?
KING: Illegal immigrants.
PELOSI: Illegal immigrants?
KING: If you're in this country illegally, should you be able to get health care?
PELOSI: No, illegal immigrants are not covered by this plan.
Pelosi knew just what the interviewer meant—her questions made a subliminal statement. Like other politicos from both parties, Pelosi refuses to uphold laws governing immigration.
The interview continues:
KING: And so what happens to a public hospital then if they walk into the emergency room? Again, the hospital I was at this week, they said, you know, they do 6,000 births a year there and 70 percent of them are for undocumented.
PELOSI: I don't know about that. But I do know that the law requires that if somebody comes in off the street and needs care, that it is extended. What we see in this legislation is that people will have access to affordable health care, and it will diminish the number of people going into those private -- public hospitals in the manner in which you described.
Is the healthcare bill a necessary component in paving the way to amnesty for millions of undocumented visitors to the US?
Democrats have repeatedly claimed those in the country illegally will not be able to get healthcare benefits under the Obama plan. As it now stands, I believe that is a lie.
A header at Roll Call on Friday announced, “The CHC [Congressional Hispanic Caucus] presses Pelosi to include illegal immigrants in Health bill.”
Numbers USA reported in an email on Monday: “A CHC member, who requested not to be identified, said the group is urging Pelosi to ensure that everyone — including illegal immigrants — will be able to receive services . . . 'We’re pushing to include everyone in the health care bill. Everyone,' said one CHC member.”
For those in the low income quintile who rely on government services for assistance with food, healthcare and housing, there is competition for government dollars. USA Today reported in January, 2009, “Untold thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing at a time when hundreds of thousands of citizens and legal residents are stuck waiting years for a spot.” The paper also said, “[T]he U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reports that 29,570 people — 0.4% of all those in federally funded housing — are ‘ineligible noncitizens.’ Some may be on temporary visas, such as highly educated workers or college students, but many are believed to be illegal immigrants.”
The HUD figures do not include housing provided by state and local governments.
Article IV, section 4 of The US Constitution mandates the federal government protect each state from invasion. Congress and presidents have repeatedly failed to observe immigration laws and they have failed to address millions entering this country without adhering to federal law. President Barack Obama’s perceived intent to pave the way to amnesty is nothing new to the US taxpayer.
While major media often project a straw man—the earnest worker coming to the US for financial gain—to mobilize liberal bias in support of unregulated immigration, most Americans will recall the attack on America in 2001 was a direct result of failed immigration policy. There is no way to tell nationality or intent because when a country permits entrance without accountability, it would be naïve to assume everyone who enters the country illegally is doing so for honorable reasons.
In the book ‘Liberty and Tyranny,’ author Mark Levin points out a finding of the Pew Hispanic Center: “9 percent of the population of Mexico was living in the United States in 2004.” [pg. 154]
No culture can withstand an invasion elected officials refuse to acknowledge and in doing so, those elected officials abandon responsibility for the security of our country. Heaping insult on injury, Congress and the presidents have passed the tab along to US taxpayers.
