Indie consultant for Mary Kay could pass for Sarah Palin’s sister

By Kay B. Day

Carole M. Sumner, Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics in Jacksonville, is very good natured when people tell her she looks like Gov. Sarah Palin. [Photo by Kay B. Day/all rights reserved/copyright 2010] For a second I thought I was actually looking at Governor Sarah Palin. I was covering the Duval County (Fla.) Republican Women’s candidate meet and greet.

I walked over to her and said, “Can I take your picture and I think you know why?”

She laughed as some of the people nearby said, “She looks just like Sarah Palin!”

But this individual is Carole M. Sumner, an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics in Jacksonville. And she granted me permission to use her photo.

I told her I had used Mary Kay before we moved to Florida. But I lost touch with the rep and switched back to Lancome. So I was glad to find her because when I get a minute I plan to get back in the Mary Kay loop. The cosmetics were top notch (no, I don’t get any money or anything else for plugging the product I like).

I asked her, “If I start back using Mary Kay, will I look like you?”

She laughed and told me to give her a call.

At any rate, Sumner could most definitely pass for Palin’s sister. Sumner was very gracious about my request and for that we thank her.

[Ed. Note: Tomorrow, look for a feature about Rick Scott, candidate for governor of Florida. Scott is opposing Attorney General Bill McCollum in the GOP Primary. We hope to also do a feature on McCollum if his team grants us the press access we’ve requested. Some races in the 2010 elections are generating national interest and we'll cover as many as possible.]
