Keith Olbermann’s domain name snapped up by The Daily Caller
Friday, July 16, 2010 at 9:53AM Leftwing pundit (or whatever he calls himself) Keith Olbermann apparently overlooked securing a domain for his name on the Web.
And The Daily Caller seized an opportunity, picking up the domain for keitholbermann.com. I have to say it’s a brilliant marketing move for TDC, a site that swings center conservative.
Although Olbermann has a niche audience, he is a recognized brand among the politically savvy—not so much among Main Street, though. Leftwingers love his anti-conservative vitriol and his Tea Party rants. For conservatives and moderates, Olbermann is a very ‘hate-able’ guy. I wrote in an earlier column I believe he suffers from TPDS (Tea Party Derangement Syndrom) after he had an on-air meltdown over Sen. Scott Brown during the race for a Massachusetts Senate seat.
Olbermann said of Brown: “In Scott Brown we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees.”
The MSNBC talking head has so often made adolescent ‘tea bag’ jokes in an attempt to offend Tea Partiers, it became apparent to some of us that he, like many self-appointed political class elitists, is clueless as to Main Street. Olbermann and other leftwingers appeared to believe the rest of the world had no idea about the cruder meaning of the term ‘tea bag’—an indication of the alternative universe far left extremists live in.
Editor-in-Chief Tucker Carlson at The Daily Caller said, “We plan to make The Daily Caller the one-stop online shop for Keith Olbermann commentary. We will be THE Keith Olbermann superstore.”
Ironically when Olbermann has one of his google-eyed mouth-foaming moments, surfers will land at The Daily Caller if they use his name for the search. If this was a pastry, it would taste delicious.
Ruth Graham does a weekly Olbermann wrap-up at TDC subtitled ‘We Watch Because We’re Paid To.’
Olbermann is a natural target because he aims to be as offensive as possible. He ranted about Tea Partiers being white until a video created by a Dallas Tea Party group showed MSNBC’s lineup is all white. The video below is a gem.
TDC said Olbermann allegedly threatened legal action. That, by the way, would be the gift that keeps on giving because TDC will get even more attention, thereby elevating their brand.
My own commentary here, past and present, is based on video snippets and news reportage about Olbermann.
I don’t watch Olbermann because I don’t get paid to do so. But I’m betting he had a very liquid meltdown when he learned his domain name was in the hands of The Daily Caller. That’s a thought worth savoring.
