Louisiana Assembly of Black Republicans launched
Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10:51AM The National Assembly of Black Republicans continues to expand across the nation.
(Jacksonville, Fla.)—At the Florida Assembly of Black Republicans Semi-Annual Statewide Meeting, members announced the launch of the Louisiana Assembly of Black Republicans (LABR). An official statement said, “The expansion of the National Assembly of Black Republicans to Louisiana illustrates the fulfillment of our objective to develop a strong, effective, and informed majority of minorities in the Republican Party.” [Story continues after photo.]

The LABR will be led by Will Rachal in Slidell, Louisiana. Rachal served in the US Navy for more than 20 years and has owned a health club for seven years. His experience in the US Navy, as a business owner, father of two and husband of 24 years will prove to be beneficial as he leads the LABR.
Sam Newby, chairman of the NABR and of the FABR, said, “With Rachal’s passion and commitment to the mission of identifying and creating an avenue for minority Republicans in Louisiana, we are excited and in support of its launch.” Newby is also 2nd vice chair of the Duval County GOP (Fla.) and president of the Joseph E. Lee Republican Club.
Newby is a significant influencer in conservative politics, spearheading the opening of a Minority Headquarters in Jacksonville and receiving praise from across the nation for doing so. The opening of the headquarters drew a record, standing-room-only crowd.
The US Report covered the event. In remarks Newby said right now it’s not “cool” to be a Republican, adding, “We’re going to go after every vote.”
National branded media rarely cover positive conservative movements in US minorities, but with leaders like Newby and Rachal, that is likely to change.
