Specter—Delaware GOP Primary result ‘shocking’ but far left is more shocking

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn. after he was R-Penn. after he won as an R when he was still a D) appeared on C-SPAN Wednesday morning and stated the obvious. “The results of Delaware were shocking.”
Specter was talking about Christine O’Donnell’s win in the Primary, defeating long time politico Rep. Mike Castle (R).
The political climate is definitely shocking right now, but the far left takes top honors in that category.
Project Vote Smart’s rating system showed Castle’s voting record earned him good scores from Planned Parenthood and the League of Women Voters. That record earned him middling’ scores from Citizens Against Government Waste, a 56 percent score from the American Conservative Union and a 55 percent rating from Americans for Democratic Action in 2009. PVS describes ADA as “America's most experienced independent liberal lobbying organization.”
[Edit: Castle also voted for Cap and Trade, basically an anti-American bill that would further empower 'developing nations' like China and India. No conservative could possibly have voted for that anti-consumer bill.]
O’Donnell had the backing of Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), the man who drives GOP power brokers nuts because of the Senate Conservatives Fund, an organization dedicated to electing fiscal conservatives rather than lip service conservatives like Specter and Castle.
O’Donnell will now face Democrat Christopher A. Coons who touts his ‘progressive’ label and would likely jump right onto the big spending train incompetent Democrats are running at full speed right now in Congress and the Executive Branch.
Media have quoted unnamed GOP aides upset about O’Donnell’s victory.
The grassroots have spoken and it would be wise of the GOP to listen. The same power brokers upset about O’Donnell gave us Specter, Gov. Charlie Crist (NPA Fla. after he was R-Fla. and figured he’d lose to Marco Rubio in the GOP Primary) and others who were lip service fiscal conservative flip floppers.
The Republican Party should be up front and center telling Americans, ‘We hear you.’
The Democrat Party at present should be up front and center telling Americans, ‘We are gouging you.’
Whether you’re talking about the de facto tax increase that is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (unconstitutional), the Cap and Trade/sister energy bills (tax, tax, tax), or the boondoggle HR 5297 the president touts as the Small Business Lending Bill (as long as you’re a crony small biz), let it be known that from rich to poor, there will be a trickle down effect. Hard times for all because this administration and Congress have spent beyond President George Bush’s wildest dreams.
Americans want a federal government that doesn’t kill or impede jobs and reduces federal spending. If the GOP will buck up and meet the test on those two points alone, the Party will have accomplished what the Democrats have failed so miserably at despite all those beautifully written campaign speeches.
Beyond that, government and tax reform are absolutely necessary. Right now Democrats are talking about the tax increase on the wealthy like the money belongs to the government. Right now we have a Dept. of Homeland Defense secretary who says the border cannot be sealed.
Right now we have a Supreme Court Justice who told ABC News “he's not prepared to conclude that -- in the internet age -- the First Amendment condones Koran burning.” So this justice wants to figuratively burn the constitution because an extremist fundamentalist from one faith is conducting his own protest and drawing fire from extremist fundamentalists from another faith? Because of the Internet? Nothing like undermining American sovereignty by a justice in the top court in the land, is there?
If Breyer’s statement doesn’t scare the hell out of you, you’re dead already.
Specter found O’Donnell’s victory shocking. That’s a good thing and GOP power brokers should see the potential in our party changing the status quo rather than voting like sheeple which is what New Yorkers just did by selecting scandal-plagued Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) as their nominee.
What’s shocking is the state of the nation under absolute rule, as opposed to governance, by Democrats. If GOP leaders don’t see the potential in that, we need new leaders.
What's truly shocking is that Bryer still has a job. (Commentary by Kay B. Day/Sept. 15, 2010)
