Lame rubber ducks head for Sen. Reid’s Ritz-Carlton condo

A group in Nevada wants to send Sen. Harry Reid a message in the form of lame rubber ducks.Americans do love humor in hot political races, and Sen. Harry Reid will soon be the beneficiary of a lame rubber duck drive. The independent committee 1001 Reasons to Vote Against Harry Reid has launched a new effort with the goal of urging Reid “not to schedule votes on issues like tax increases, cap and trade, card check and other contentious issues after the election.” How will Reid get the message?

When donors at Retire Harry Reid give the committee $30 or more, a ‘lame duck’ will be individually packaged with a personal card from the donor telling Reid, “Lame Ducks should go home!”

The group said the ducks will be delivered to Reid’s condo in Washington, D.C. at the Ritz Carlton, adding for emphasis, “Yes, that’s right, Harry Reid lives at the Ritz Carlton!!! Quack Quack!”

At a sister site Harry Reid Votes, visitors can mull a wealth of information in the section ‘1001 Reasons to Fire Harry Reid.’ Reid’s controversial votes include a ‘no’ to a balanced budget amendment and a ‘yes’ on just about anything that would raise taxes.

Meanwhile, conservative groups are asking questions about some of Reid’s decisions, such as no-bid contracts via earmarks to a company that is a large Democrat donor. Reid’s Republican opponent Sharon Angle responded to questions about the no-bid deals.

Angle communications director Jarrod Agen told Liberty Pundits, “The fact that Harry Reid is raking in massive amounts of money in campaign contributions from the same company that he is sponsoring earmarks on behalf of is very disturbing… With all the trouble the Democratic Party has gotten into over the past year with ‘pay to play’ politics, you would think the majority leader would be more careful picking and choosing which companies he went to bat for…”

Agen said voters in Nevada are tired of “politics as usual” and that is why they’ll vote for Angle in November.

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows the race for Reid’s seat in a deadlock, illustrating perhaps the advantage of an incumbent, even one who is mired in controversial votes, outright political manipulating and even telling one Las Vegas newspaper he hoped the paper would go out of business. The newspaper publisher Sherman Frederick said Reid’s remarks constituted, “a full-on threat perpetrated by a bully who has forgotten that he was elected to office to protect Nevadans, not sound like he's shaking them down.”

The lame rubber duck effort and the independent committee are part of an indie 527 group that describes its purpose as “educating the public about Senator Reid's voting record and raising the funds necessary to finance television and radio ads this fall." The committee is chaired by Nevada resident and former US Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian.
