What is Agenda 21?

By Chris Carter

“Agenda 21 proposes an array of actions which are intended to be implemented by every person on Earth…it calls for specific changes in the activities of all people… Effective execution of Agenda 21 will require a profound reorientation of all humans, unlike anything the world has ever experienced… ” - Agenda 21: The Earth Summit Strategy to Save Our Planet (Earthpress, 1993).

The UN plan referenced by Newt Gingrich is a real threat to private property and US sovereignty.

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich stated during a recent campaign event that the United Nations was seeking to create an “extraconstitutional control” over the US with programs like Agenda 21. Gingrich's remarks are featured in a YouTube video. But what is Agenda 21,  and why has it taken nearly 20 years before this subject got national recognition?

Agenda 21 seeks to control populations through zoning and seizure of private property, strip national sovereignty, reduce the world population, even control our consumption of meat and air conditioning ... all in the name of the environment. And who can be against the environment, right?

Many Americans cringe at the mention of “global government” or “conspiracy.” And often, conspiracy theories have little basis in fact. But we must recognize that it is a basic element of human nature to seek the acquisition of wealth and power, and that people throughout human history have conspired together to do so. Not all conspiracies are real, but they do exist. And Agenda 21 is a perfect example.

From the report produced by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements, which was a predecessor to Agenda 21: “Land...cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice…. Public control of land use is therefore indispensable....”

Our Constitution explicitly protects our private property rights. No wonder President Bill Clinton signed it into law by an executive order, without consent from Congress. In fact, those who drafted the plan considered it to be so toxic that they warned proponents not to use the term Agenda 21.

“Participating in a UN advocated planning process would very likely bring out many of the conspiracy- fixated groups and individuals in our society,” said J. Gary Lawrence, adviser to Clinton's Council on Sustainable Development. “This segment of our society who fear ‘one-world government’ and a UN invasion of the United States through which our individual freedom would be stripped away would actively work to defeat any elected official who joined ‘the conspiracy’ by undertaking [Agenda 21]. So we call our process something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management or smart growth.”

Rather than defend against the misinformation campaign used to prop up Agenda 21, we must read the document and instead demand why the UN thinks it has any business subjugating the world under its authority when their record is full of epic corruption and humiliating failures.

For those who wish to know more about Agenda 21, there is much written. Here is an archive I have collected as a starting point.

Thank you so much, Nachum, for sharing that amazing resource. I really hope this topic becomes part of the public discourse. Of course if we wait long enough to burn up in summertime and freeze in winter because the central powers are dictating where our thermostats sit, I reckon we'll wake up then. best, KBD

Agenda 21 is real my friends. It is called something, anything other than Agenda 21 specifically for the reason given above. People will oppose it once they find out what it is. So one could ask themselves "Why would the US citizenry choose to implement something like this that would dictate to them they could NOT own private property, and also dictate to them how to live". Answer: Normal citizens would not agree to this intrusion and obviously contradicts the US Constitution. The way this is being implemented is via Executive Order with GRANT MONEY from the US Federal Government. That's right, OUR TAX MONEY is being spent to implement this obvious violation of the US Constituition. Watch your local/county/state elected officials VERY CLOSELY. Some are not aware of this and some are VERY AWARE of this and will use this information for their benefit ($$$$).

It's already being implemented--our energy sector is a perfect example. Thanks for weighing in. Best, KBD

The UN Agenda 21 is indeed real... and is being pushed on the local levels. But the articles cooing outr now are showing that Newt is against this.. that he knew nothing about it.. but irregardless of that info, he is still an environmentalist. Check out a 2007 book written by Newt and environmentalist Terry Maple... "A Contract with the Earth." This sounds like a lot of spin to get on the side of those in the Tea Parties.

DMV, Newt has taken a number of positions on environmental issues. He has not expressed support for Agenda 21--Clinton did not even try to get that past Congress. Clinton pushed it via executive order.

I'd venture any GOP candidate would like the support of tea partiers. That's sort of a no-brainer.

Furthermore, what most don't realize is that Newt's testimony in April, 2009, helped derail HR 2454, the costly carbon bill that would have made everything cost far more than it does now under Obama's emissions-based energy policy.

Finally, I don't care what Newt supported in the past; I do care what he's promising now.

What candidate do you prefer as nominee (whether you're Dem or Republican)? Just curious. Thanks for dropping by.

Here's a recent article on Newt's testimony before Energy and Commerce comm. when Waxman was in charge under absolute Dem control of both legislative and exec. branches:
