Have ghosts of Journolist past returned to help Obama get reelected?

As the 2008 campaigns got underway with Sen. John McCain running his “nice” strategy against a vicious, well-funded liberal media machine, I often ranted about media bias. I also remarked more than once how uniform the coverage seemed to be.

I'm seeing uniformity now ahead of 2012.

In 2008, I also ranted about the McCain campaign’s dull as soap tenor, but that’s another story.

During the debates between McCain and President Barack Obama, regardless of what was said, media declared Obama the winner. That same elite media dubbed Gov. Sarah Palin an idiot, but downplayed then Sen. Joe Biden’s constant gaffes [channeling Gomer Pyle minus the Southern accent] and completely ignored Obama’s expansion of US territory to 57 (I think it was 57) states among other matters.

When I learned employees in that same media were colluding to get Obama elected, it really didn’t shock me. It did make me angry though.

The Vail Spot blog has posted a list of Journolist members.

Media outlets like Politico and ABC News did think pieces on Journolist, but the scandal drew scant attention because there were so many media outlets with dirt on their hands.

I wasn’t angry because writers collaborated. I was angry because they didn’t disclose what they were doing.

Some blogger at The Washington Post started the list—once Obama was elected, WaPo tried to sell access to his cabinet and staffers for huge sums of money. Quid pro quo.

Once these media conglomerates got their guy elected, he could do no wrong. There’s a razor sharp contrast in treatment delivered to President George W. Bush and the love child of that same media, Obama.

At any rate, I think we should bear this in mind going forward to 2012. I’m not sure you can believe much of anything liberal media outlets claim.

Recently there have been hit pieces out on Sen. Marco Rubio, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and businessman Herman Cain.

All these have been published as major problems in the Obama administration have been pushed without much enthusiasm (Fast and Furious, Solyndra, the GAO scandal, etc.)

James O’Keefe at Project Veritas has some must-see video about elite media. In another column I pointed out Republican candidates have been vetted mercilessly as the primaries draw near for 2012.

Ironically most corporate media have never vetted Obama. They probably never will. After all, he owes much of his success to them. What’s happening in our country right now is something Obama should own up to, but right there beside him taking full credit should be the members of Journolist.

Remember that next time you read a smear story about your preferred candidate in the GOP presidential field. These hacks can be bought for a cheap glass of Chardonnay and a personal pizza.
