Cain supporters ramp up volume with new grassroots site
Monday, April 4, 2011 at 4:15PM Presidential hopeful Herman Cain told CNN that in the U.S., there's "too much regulation, too much legislation and too much taxation." [Screen Snip from video at Cain exploratory site]Supporters of Herman Cain have formed a grassroots group, Draft Herman Cain, to develop teams of volunteers and organizers on a grassroots level in all 50 states.
Cain supporters are maneuvering for position ahead of 2012 as the charismatic businessman—one of the few GOP hopefuls with private sector success—conducts what can only be described as a Herculean effort to elevate his brand.
Cain is also a talk show host and columnist. He has steadily worked the political trail, appearing at numerous events and rallies with more listed for the future.
Thus far Cain is one of the only candidates rattling the political cage, with statements on everything from energy to tax reform.
Cain has appeared on national TV pundit programs like Neil Cavuto and Greta van Susteren. Besides Fox News, CNN and other networks have also featured Cain during regular news programs.
By all accounts, the businessman who brought success to several international companies like Godfather’s Pizza wowed the crowd at CPAC 2011.
Mediaite said, “Cain casually throws political correctness out the window.”
Draft Herman Cain has a slogan on the website that said it all: “It’s time to believe in America again.” The website was founded by Maurice Atkinson of Georgia, and supporters from Texas, Florida and Wisconsin are listed as key figures in the effort.
Cain has more than 60,000 supporters on his Facebook page. Those numbers should rise significantly as the grassroots group grows.
Cain is slated to participate in the influential Americans for Prosperity Foundation summit in New Hampshire, according to Market Watch.
Supporters can sign up at Draft Herman Cain where events and information on volunteering are posted. Cain’s presidential exploratory committee site has a wealth of information about the candidate’s background, policy and positions.
Cain has brought energy to a fairly lackluster climate surrounding GOP hopefuls. Considering what’s at stake in 2012, it’s likely Cain will gain momentum because he isn’t corrupted by the Beltway and he understands the private sector.
Cain has actually created scores of private sector jobs the taxpayer doesn’t pay for, something few presumed candidates from either party can lay claim to.
Cain told CNN, “[T]he American dream is under attack.” Enlightened voters would certainly agree with that statement.

Herman Cain's candidacy is gaining traction. He went from a no score to a 19 on Gallup's Positive Intensity Score. Frontrunner Mike Huckabee (who says he isn't running) has 26. Mitch Romney has 20. Check out the scores on the Gallup website. (Hat tip to Cain's grassroots supporter/activist Caree Stevenson for alerting us to this development).
