WikiLeaks proves North American Union a reality, not a conspiracy
Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:08AM WikiLeaks has had a profound impact on US political dialog, and a new document WL published should correct a point in one debate. The North American Union is not a conspiracy but rather a reality guised as North American Integration.
Just as countries in Europe formed a union, progressives in North America would like to do so, and those progressives hail from both political parties.
The group Americans for Legal Immigration has published information about this initiative. The document in question is posted at the ALI website.
One particularly troubling passage has to do with border security. The document reportedly written by US ambassador to Canada Paul Cellucci analyzes potential gains if Canada, the U.S. and Mexico were to adopt a common currency and trilateral economic integration among other tenets of the union plan.
The troubling passage de-elevates US security in favor of corporate gain and the ever-present search for cheap labor:
“BORDER RISK: The risk that business will be obstructed
at the border by discretionary U.S. actions, such as
measures to defend against terrorism or infectious
disease, in addition to growing congestion, have become
major risks to the economy, inhibiting investment in
Canada. For small businesses, the complexities of
navigating the border are apparently even more
intimidating than the actual costs. Reducing this risk
is Canada's top motive for pursuing further
integration.
LABOR MARKETS: Many Canadian economists point to labor
markets - both within and among countries - as the
factor market where more liberalization would deliver
the greatest economic benefits for all three countries.
They advocate freeing up professional licensing laws,
and developing a quick, simple, low-cost work permit
system, at least for U.S. and Canadian citizens.”
Before becoming ambassador under President George W. Bush, Cellucci served as governor of Massachusetts and he supported political efforts by various members of the Bush family.
ALI noted both presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have pursued an integration plan. It’s a given former President Bill Clinton would be enthusiastic.
The ALI release about NAI said, "'North American integration requires American disintegration. Americans would never voluntarily enter into this devilish arrangement that would disintegrate the United States beneath a larger super state; and a new government which would destroy the existing US Constitution and borders,’ said William Gheen. ‘This is why these elite banking, business, and political influences are flooding America with rampant illegal immigration and hyper legal immigration. They are conquering the freedom-loving innocent citizens of America by bringing in outsiders who will replace us incrementally in our jobs and homes.’"
Legacy media have portrayed those who gave credence to the idea of a North American Union as tinfoil hate wearers under the influence of conspiracy theory.
It appears the tinfoil hats have actually been atop the heads of legacy media. Whether we call it the North American Union or the North American Initiative, trilateral integration is obviously a real objective among the continents’ powerful political elite class as evidenced by WikiLeaks.
The document even reveals the process for advancing the idea of NAI, and it’s obvious Main Street America isn’t at the head of the line to gain benefits:
“There is little basis on which to estimate the
size of the ‘upside" gains from an integration
initiative concentrating on non-tariff barriers of the
kind contained in NAI. For this reason, we cannot make
claims about how large the benefits might be on a
national or continental scale. When advocating NAI, it
would be better to highlight specific gains to
individual firms, industries or travelers, and
especially consumers.”
Obviously none of the proponents are concerned about the US Constitution or for that matter, US sovereignty.
