Perry will speak at Red State Gathering: Big signal

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will speak at the Red State Gathering in Charleston Aug. 12-14. [Official photo of Gov. Perry/state of Texas)Just as I was about to shut down shortly after midnight on Tuesday, I saw a post by Red State’s Erick Erickson on my Facebook page. Gov. Rick Perry (Texas) will address the Red State Gathering in Charleston August 12-14.  Keynote speaker is South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Perry’s confirmation on this particular conference is a key signal. I don’t know anyone with a better gauge on the body politic than Erickson. The front page bloggers at Red State are the same. Some of my favorites are The Labor Union Report, Moe Lane and the Minority Report.

Red State was a driving force in Sen. Marco Rubio’s early momentum in the US Senate Race for a Florida seat when he was still behind in the polls; the same applies to other candidates backed by S.C. Sen. Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund.

The Red State website and the gathering are among the most significant  influencers in conservative politics today.

The US Report will cover the conference—Charleston is one of my favorite cities. I plan to take a photo of the street where, in 2008, President Barack Obama promised jobs to those who supported him. The city of course, with a liberal demographic, did support Obama. And now Obama's forgotten all about that promise as his Labor Board tries to squelch jobs at Boeing’s plant.

Minutes after Erick posted his announcement at Facebook, I posted it on my Friends list too. From that point, messages and updates began to flow rapidly, so rapidly I am hopping back and forth trying to answer them all. It must be admitted that Perry most definitely just raised interest in the GOP candidates by a large margin. He resonates with the base and the grassroots.

Other guests include Adam Hasner who hopes to oppose Sen. Bill Nelson, a Democrat, for a US Senate seat.

Dems are already taking Perry seriously. Top three results in a Google search are negative tabloid type stories. No surprise there but it shows they are terrified of Perry. Goo loves the Democrats like my hound dog loves popcorn.

If you do plan to go to the Red State Gathering, I’d suggest you register quickly and get your rooms reserved. I’ve got the feeling this will be a big one. Strikes me it’d be the perfect spot for Perry to make his run official.

I probably don’t have to tell you South Carolina is a key primary state.

Warning. We do not need Rick Perry as President, the number one reason being his abuse of power and the office of Governor when he ordered 600+ children kidnapped by State agents from their parents and homes of the FLDS in Texas. Only a federal judge was able to declare the act unConstitutional and work to have him stopped and the children returned. What was Perry's statement ? "I'd do it again" ! This man absolutely does not need the power of the office of President, he would attempt this same principle on a national basis. Remember our forefathers warning, "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely".
