Republicans, Tea Partiers and Libertarians are chatting on social media about former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s global warming statement in New Hampshire. Romney’s campaign is still young, so he may have time to correct what I perceive as a major misstep on the trail.
Doug Powers, writing at MichelleMalkin.com, cited a Reuters story for this statement by Romney: “I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that…”
Whole books have been written by and about experts who disagree with the UN IPCC alarmist view. You won’t hear legacy media quoting these experts because legacy media is in bed with the global ‘warmerites.’
Wine and dine enough so-called reporters in places like Cancun and you could probably convince them the world is flat.
In recent weeks, as tornadoes swept the U.S., some pundits and reporters blamed those tornadoes on global warming. Newsweek devoted a feature to it; the story makes little sense as the website Watts Up With That? was only too happy to point out.
Dr. Roy Spencer, perpetual thorn in the side of the government-subsidized experts who rely on global warming for a living, had this to say about those tornadoes: “This is a continuation of the theme of my last 2 blog posts, dealing with the fact that a greater number of strong to violent tornadoes occur in unusually COOL years, not warm years.” Spencer provides charts and graphs to support his statement.
In 2009 I provided information about UN climate guru Dr. R.K. Pachauri whose background is in railway engineering and economics. Here’s what I wrote:
“Pachauri heads up an organization named TERI-NA—facilities are conveniently located on Pennsylvania Avenue. TERI-NA is a lobby group. The Telegraph said, ‘TERI-NA is funded by a galaxy of official and corporate sponsors, including four branches of the UN bureaucracy; four US government agencies; oil giants such as Amoco; two of the leading US defence contractors; Monsanto, the world’s largest GM producer; the WWF (the environmentalist campaigning group which derives much of its own funding from the EU) and two world leaders in the international ‘carbon market’, between them managing more than $1 trillion (£620 billion) worth of assets.’”
Global warmerites’ head cheerleader Al Gore has no background in science either. Gore has a political class entitlement approach to making money on the backs of US taxpayers.
Romney’s endorsement of a theory that has not only harmed the US image in countries where weak leaders seek the most convenient target to blame for their own failure when natural or manmade disasters (Katrina) strike suggests there are powerful people in the Republican Party eager to hand the presidency back to President Barack Obama in 2012.
Republicans, Tea Partiers and Libertarians take note: 2012 is ours to lose.
