Debt fight proves U.S. needs more conservatives in the Senate

Sen. Harry Reid is still preening for the cameras, with legacy media only too eager to promote  his obstruction of anything the Republican controlled US House of Representatives puts forth. Reid sounds like a broken record, telling House conservatives to “compromise.”

The last thing on Reid’s mind is compromise. He’s still having trouble getting over losing control of the House in November, 2010. Of course, what legacy media omits from every narrative is that this problem was created by Democrats—they set no budget for more than 800 days, they voted down President Barack Obama’s budget and they could’ve set whatever debt ceiling their spendthrift hearts desired.

After all, Democrats  had absolute control of the federal government from the moment they won Congress in November, 2006 until November 2010, and Obama has been in the White House for three years.

Reid fabricates a no-tax-in-my-plan story for Democrat friendly media. Here are a couple troubling truths:

1) Democrats already passed a direct tax hike in the blatantly unconstitutional Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare). The National Taxpayers Union and the Tax Foundation have the figures and details on that matter. PPACA is a revenue bill that simply shifts the cost of the uninsured onto the backs of taxpayers and those who have private insurance.

2)Reid’s plan assumes the Bush tax cuts for ALL AMERICANS will expire next year. When they do, the marriage penalty returns and that penalty will not differentiate between traditional couples or same sex couples. The Daily Caller explains:

“The 2001–2003 Bush tax cuts are set to expire at the end of 2012. And some business tax breaks, “death tax” cuts, and the patch for the Alternative Minimum Tax expire at the end of 2011. Reid’s proposal assumes that Congress will not act to renew or extend those expiring tax breaks.”

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has done everything possible under the sun to deliver legislation that will include lifting the debt ceiling. Reid won’t even talk about it—the height of arrogance and disrespect.

Americans should cut through the political  rhetoric and the fairy tales being woven by legacy media.

Republicans have already compromised, more than once.

When 2012 rolls around, smart voters will elect more conservatives to the US Senate. Regardless of how a conservative feels about social issues, if he is a big spender-big government proponent, he cannot call himself a conservative. Control of wealth by the federal government is directly tied to your freedom, another matter legacy media never talks about.

If we don’t stop spending and get a grip on US debt, we will be bankrupt. That’s not a fairy tale. That’s a fact.
