The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act otherwise known as ObamaCare is, as I have said before, nothing more than socialization of the US healthcare system. The bill is blatantly unconstitutional. Now there’s a new scandal, this one uncovered by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.
The public is already aware of the pre-existing scandal: thousands of waivers exempting groups and employers—many are Democrat cronies.
The Center for Consumer Information and Oversight is where you’ll end up if you search for a list of waivers. Scroll down the page and you’ll see an assortment of links grouped by categories like union plans and self-employed. The old page at Health and Human Services with a straight-up list is gone; links to that page don’t work. There are, as of the date of this column, 1,578 waivers to unions and groups or companies like Dole Food and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
Those waivers should be enough to spark a class-action lawsuit on some grounds, but so far there’s no junior attorney eager to make millions.
Judicial Watch dug through more than 2,000 pages of government documents about ObamaCare. In a statement, JW said, “According to a budget summary prepared by Ogilvy, from October 2010 through February 2011, the Obama administration spent $1,435,009 on these online advertisements alone, including advertising campaigns with Google and Yahoo, almost $300,000 per month.”
Ogilvy is the public relations firm Obama hired to sell his plan to the public. JW said the primary targets were Hispanics, Blacks and women.
One statement uncovered by JW is deliberately racist: “A January 18, 2011, email from Ogilvy to HHS New Media Communications Director Julia Eisman notes with respect to a Spanish banner ad campaign, 'I realize we really can’t use the blond mom and child for this audience.'"
Judicial Watch noted: “In previous documents uncovered by Judicial Watch, HHS describes in detail the key to success of the propaganda campaign in a ‘Statement of Work’ accompanying the agency’s Acquisition Plan: 'Health and program-related messages are processed by the target audience according to a particular reality, which he or she experiences. Attitudes, feelings, values, needs, desires, behaviors and beliefs all play a part in the individual’s decision to accept information and make a behavioral change.' [Emphasis added.] These documents suggest the total cost of the Obamacare propaganda campaign could reach as much as $200 million.”

There is no more sordid, underhanded and treacherous legislation in modern times than the Democrats’ healthcare bill. The bill will dilute healthcare for those who pay for private insurance, provide healthcare to any foreign national who makes his or her way to American soil and will ultimately accomplish exactly what Democrats have wanted for years—the full socialization of US healthcare.
Hearings are in order to determine just how much of our money the Obama administration wasted on pure propaganda for a bill that will not make healthcare more affordable for most of us and that will make healthcare less satisfactory for all of us. I read that bill the Democrats got paid to read.
