Why actor Morgan Freeman needs a Politics 101 class

Morgan Freeman appeared on a CNN talk show and leveled racism charges at those who don’t agree with President Barack Obama’s big government policies.

Newsbusters said Freeman told the talk show host racism is worse since Obama took office.

Freeman added:  “Look at, look, the Tea Partiers, who are controlling the Republican Party, stated, and what’s this guy’s name, Mitch O’Connell. Is that his, O’Connell?”

Correcting Senate Minority Leader McConnell’s name, Freeman then demonstrated his political naiveté:

“Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What’s, what does that, what underlines that? ‘Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.’”

I’d agree the country is currently screwed, but Freeman should give credit where it’s due—to Democrats in the White House, in the Senate and in the Democrat Congress. His party had a majority until November, 2010.

Freeman sounds just like what’s her name—the minor actress far less talented than Freeman who told a talk show host on some network the equivalent of, There’s a black man in the White House!

None of these entertainers talk about policy or differences in ideology. They do what most progressives do—resort to an ad hominem attack.

Does Freeman really believe conservatives and Libertarians are going to vote to re-elect a president whose foreign policy has unglued the Middle East, whose domestic  policy has sparked record prices for food and utility costs and whose approach to almost everything is grounded in socialist policy?

Does Freeman honestly believe anyone of sound mind would re-elect a president who is supposed to be a Constitutional scholar but who insisted on a mandate that every American purchase a health insurance policy? That is such a transgression on the Constitution it might leave an informed person breathless to even contemplate that sort of mandate on US soil.

Does Freeman honestly believe Americans would appreciate an apologist president who travels the globe and bows to the Saudi king, the Japanese emperor and to communist leaders in China?

Does Freeman honestly believe Americans appreciate a president who encourages class warfare and hands over half a billion dollars to a solar energy company whose corporate officials take the 5th amendment when asked to explain where the taxpayers’ half a billion went?

We could do this all day.

If Freeman wants to point his finger at a racist, all he needs to do is grab the nearest mirror. Or he could simply study the history of Democrats in the U.S.

As civil rights began to dominate political dialog, Democrats pitted low income whites against low income blacks as a means of garnering white votes.

Historical records are manipulated, in my opinion, even by the Library of Congress. If you do a search of digital photographs under the term ‘civil rights’, you will not see President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s name in results.

However, it was Republican president  Eisenhower who signed the 1957 Civil Rights Act to protect voting rights. On September 24, 1957, President Eisenhower sent federal troops to Little Rock, Ark., to enforce integration of black students who had been barred by national guardsmen as ordered by Gov. Orval Faubus. Faubus was a Democrat.

Finally, someone should tell this talented actor that Republicans like to win elections just like their counterparts the Democrats. Duh—it’s Politics 101.
