Gov. Sarah Palin (from Alaska Gov. website)Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity during his Fox News show on Tuesday she wants to “see the vetting” of GOP candidates keep going. Then she dropped a bombshell.
“If I were in South Carolina,” she said, “I’d vote for Newt.”
South Carolinians will select their choice for GOP nominee on Saturday.
Palin believes questions must be answered by all the GOP candidates about actions when they were in office, business dealings and other matters. She pointed to the lack of vetting President Barack Obama enjoyed.
Most know big media openly advocated for Obama and they were a key pillar in his path to victory.
Palin doesn’t think former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has the nomination wrapped up. “A lot of people in media want voters to believe it is inevitable,” she said of the myriad declarations by pundits that Romney will win the nomination. Palin doesn’t necessarily buy into the premise that the more moderate candidate will be the best one to face Obama in the fall.
She also said poll numbers seem to show the conservative candidates are splitting the vote. “Some of the more conservative candidates are going to have to decide if they’ll take one for the team,” she said.
Palin praised debate performances by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Speaker Newt Gingrich. She also said Gingrich won the debate.
Hannity pointed out Palin’s husband Todd has "gone rogue." Todd Palin has already endorsed Gingrich.
