President Barack Obama wasn't kidding when he promised change, and his handling of illegal aliens has delivered. Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) was astounded to learn Obama's State Dept. released a fugitive after local officers had detained him when they spotted his car missing a license plate.
A press release at Gohmert's US House website disclosed:
"A former Mexican government official wanted for embezzling millions was arrested in Texas this month, then promptly ordered released by the State Department in a case that has one lawmaker demanding answers.
A day after pulling rank on Smith County law enforcement officials, the State Department rescinded the order. But Hector Hernandez Javier Villarreal was gone by then. Now Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) is calling for congressional hearings to find out what happened."
Obama and his Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano have pledged to concentrate on criminal elements among illegals.
Fact is the Democrats' policy has actually increased numbers of illegals compared to those under the administration of President George W. Bush.
The Center for Immigration Studies said:
"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will soon release its new estimate of the illegal immigrant population in the United States as of January 1, 2011. (All DHS estimates are for January 1.) Based on a preliminary analysis of some of the same data DHS uses, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that 10.9 million (± 200,000) illegal immigrants lived in the United States on January 1, 2011. If this estimate turns out to be similar to the DHS estimate, it means that the illegal immigrant population stopped declining after President Obama took office after declining by 1 million during the last two years of the Bush administration ─ 2007 to 2009."
Obama has largely appeased groups seeking amnesty for illegals, packaging his political message as being supportive of 'Hispanics.' Of course, that's simply a cover. Hispanics are just diverse as any other population in the U.S.
The president has circumvented Congress with his policy. No one appears to know the impact from crimes like identity theft, human trafficking, kidnapping, money laundering and drug running. If someone works illegally in the U.S., he or she must obtain a fraudulent social security number.
Democrats in Congress even blocked a Republican attempt to keep people without a valid social security number from receiving tax refunds via child tax credits. Democrats must be aware that fraud is happening, but pro-illegal alien groups like La Raza backed Democrats down.
Illegals receiving those refunds have increased on Obama's watch. The Associated Press reported:
"The Treasury Department says that in the 2010 filing year more than $4 billion in child credit refunds went to 2.3 million people who filed tax returns but didn't have Social Security numbers proving they were citizens or legal workers. That's a four-fold increase over five years earlier."
Democrats could care less about taxpayer dollars being burned.
While Democrats project their policy as pro-immigrant, illegal aliens have nothing to do with immigration. Meanwhile, processing glitches and corruption within the legal immigration system remain muddled.
