Obama's illegal amnesty for illegals deserved reporter's callout
Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:42PM Democrats routinely use government resources to pander, as evidenced by this snip from the U.S. Forest Service home page.Obama played a game of political charades on Friday, using spin to justify his insult to the U.S. Congress. It was easy to guess the word behind President Barack Obama’s speech and actions—amnesty. The president got called out by a reporter whose actions were justified.
Obama has caved to illegal advocacy groups who are not to be confused with advocates for immigrants. The president’s fiat on Friday granted de facto amnesty to as many as 2-3 million illegal workers. No one really knows how many they are because, as I’ve often said, you can’t fully document the undocumented.
Obama announced a pass for people of a certain age in the country illegally, saying, “It’s the right thing to do for the American people.” He claimed his runaround amnesty would give “certainty to our farmers and our ranchers.” Obama had the nerve to mention that the U.S. has always “drawn strength” from being “a nation of laws.” Sounds good on paper, but anyone who follows politics knows exactly what the president was doing on Friday and his fiat will certainly not benefit “the American people.”
Unemployment is at an all time high. For black males, college kids and blue collar workers. Retailers aren’t hiring. Factories aren’t hiring. The only border this president has secured is the border separating the U.S. from her natural resources—his energy policy is a clamp on production and a direct driver of the high cost of living.
Democrats routinely target “Hispanics” in messaging, although that label represents a very mixed bag of cultures and languages. The term ‘Hispanics’ is like the term ‘Anglos.’ A general description for political gain rather than reality.
Democrats have so prostituted their policies on behalf of that group they’ve even politicized the U.S. Forest Service website where there’s a video up encouraging Hispanics to get outdoors. Have you ever seen a video on the USFS website encouraging Chinese, German, French or Haitians? Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it?
Everyone knew Obama wasn’t about to face questions after his speech on Friday. Everyone also knew what the president did defied the U.S. Constitution in a flagrant and disrespectful manner. Everyone knew what Obama decided was done purely for garnering votes and satisfying groups bent on establishing cultural dominance in this country. Everyone knew Obama’s declaration is an insult to American and immigrant workers who already face stiff competition in the jobs market.
Obama didn’t even breathe a word about the costs of his new illegal program for illegals—these individuals will get for free a right that those who attempt to legally come here pay for.
Nor did Obama breathe a word about the social impact—the makeup of a large population he just placed at the head of the immigration line although a sizable portion of that population may simply be in the country to either collect entitlements or for other purposes that bear no relationship to the desire for citizenship.
I’ve often mentioned that a foreign country could assemble an army in the U.S. and the president would be clueless until an attack occurred.
Meanwhile neither the president nor his party have done a thing to initiate real immigration reform. Reform is needed from the bottom up. Democrats are incapable of it and that is a signal Republicans should be coming up with a realistic plan for reform.
As for Obama’s move—the correct term is “deferred action”—the Center for Immigration Studies pointed out there is no “statutory basis for this form of relief.” Normally this would be used as a response to those fleeing natural disaster or war.
The Daily Caller reporter Neil Monro lobbed a question at a president who was playing a political game of charades on a national podium, a president whose real intent didn’t have anything to do with the best interests of Americans, both citizens and immigrants.
Monro stood out from the fawning, spineless flacks in the White House Correspondents Association. Americans don’t only deserve a better president. We deserve a better press. Monro was the only reporter in the nation who showed any resolve to be a watchdog for the people.
As for respect, the Left is simply getting a dose of what was hurled at President George W. Bush for two terms. Spare me their outrage.
CIS Executive Director Mark Krikorian put Obama’s latest political ploy in context:
“For all the administration’s pious denials that this measure ‘confers no substantive right’ and ‘Only the Congress, acting through its legislative authority, can confer these rights’, they’re lying. The illegal immigrants in question will receive two-year renewable permits to live legally in the United States and an Employment Authorization Document — that, in English, is what we call ‘amnesty’."
