One more reason to nullify ObamaCare: Most damage falls on small businesses
Friday, July 27, 2012 at 4:19PM Obama is the first U.S. president to force Americans to buy something they may not need, want or be able to afford. (Photo: Obama at Saddleback, 2008; screen snip of video)From the moment I finished reading the healthcare bill Democrats came up with, I knew what they were up to.
The bill simply shifts the cost of those who have no insurance onto those of us who do. To pay for it, 20 new taxes are included.
Worse, the bill also imposes a “tax” on those who don’t buy health insurance. That "tax" will fall on those who earn a little too much to get the government bailout but not enough to be able to comfortably afford the premiums.
Small businesses like Hercules Industries in Colorado will be hardest hit, and not just because of the cost.
These employers must cover abortion drugs, contraceptives and anything else the federal government mandates, regardless of religious principles, and that is a direct violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
President Barack Obama’s Dept. of Justice will eagerly go after businesses and individuals who do not comply. This will be a historic intrusion of the federal government into our lives.
On the other hand, the gangs in the ‘hood will routinely shoot ‘em up, costing local communities money for trauma care, and under-the-radar types won’t have to pay a dime. Same goes for illegal aliens who will be treated by the emergency room and likely written off as charity cases. Translated: the community pays the tab.
ObamaCare is not a constitutional bill. The U.S. Supreme Court made a decision that should terrify anyone who loves freedom, changing the character of the “mandate” to a “tax” in direct contrast to the way the bill was written, instituting a “penalty.” The Supreme Court, just like the Senate under Democrats' control, basically back-doored ObamaCare.
The best option for neutering an unconstitutional bill that will do nothing to lower costs or improve healthcare for the vast majority of Americans is to get your state legislature to nullify the bill.
A number of socialist-leaning pundits claim nullification is racist in nature. That is not true. Northern states used nullification as a means of defying slavery laws.
If you want to talk nullification, Obama has certainly practiced the spirit of that by overturning immigration laws, war powers laws, laws on privacy and personal expression and the First Amendment’s limitations on government over religion.
Obama has nullified plenty. It’s time for your state to step up to the plate and rein in a federal government that has exceeded its contract with America—the U.S. Constitution and amendments.
How can anyone vote for a president or congressman who dictates that you must purchase something or pay a “tax”? By casting a vote for a Democrat, you open the door to tyranny even wider than it has already swung.
