Senator and doctor Barrasso: Obamacare bad for patients, terrible for taxpayers

Sen. Barrasso; photo from Senate websiteSen. John Barrasso, M.D. (R-Wyo.) spoke to Fox News on Wednesday as his colleague Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was in the final stretch of his not-a-filibuster speech about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Barrasso said there are “big problems ahead” in implementing Obamacare. He said Congress should keep government open, but he will not vote to fund the law Democrats passed.

The Wyoming Republican said there are still 20 taxes in Obamacare even if the bill is defunded. He said, “We need to repeal it and replace it with patient-centered care…affordable quality care.”

Sen. Rand Paul: ‘Cruz has started a rebellion against coercion’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) set a youthful, determined stance in comparison to the ageing GOP Old Guard. Still standing on the U.S. Senate floor after starting his not-a-filibuster speech on Tuesday, and still articulate and  energetic, Cruz fielded questions laden with remarks from fellow senators. He even brought up the Star Wars films, saying, “This is a fight to get the empire to listen to the people.”

Ted Cruz filibuster style speech shakes up a U.S. Senate that needs a shakeup

Photo of Sen. Cruz on Senate floor (Frame grab/C-SPAN)Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took to the floor of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday to make a long speech—technically not a filibuster—about the perils of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Harry Reid, anarchist extraordinaire, comes up short on upholding laws of the land

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) appears obsessed with “anarchists” of late, resorting to name Anarchy symbol [Wikipedia: Linuxerist, Froztbyte, Arcy]calling over what amounts to a disagreement on public policy. While Reid should not be surprised that government reformers, tea party types and others opposed to socialism do not like the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), a personal attack on his opposition suggests Reid is clueless on several points.

Reid is in fact an anarchist. How can I say that credibly?

If Obamacare stands or fails, Republicans will win either way

Harry Reid loves Obamacare as long as it doesn't apply fully to himself or to his home state. Or his labor cronies. And select corporations. Most media right now are following the meme set up by Democrats. Blame any government shutdown on Republicans.

Republicans have tried dozens of times to stop the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act commonly called Obamacare. The U.S. House controlled by Republicans voted on Friday to fund government spending until December, but they stripped out funding for Obamacare.

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid said:

"Republicans are simply postponing for a few days the inevitable choice they must face: pass a clean bill to fund the government, or force a shutdown. I have said it before but it seems to bear repeating: the Senate will not pass any bill that defunds or delays Obamacare.”

What Harry left out—Dems have already both defunded and delayed Obamacare.

Pelosi has flyover moment, misses billions and billions in potential spending cuts

Pelosi, 2009. (Frame grab/Fox News)Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had one of those moments she’s famous for when she said this in an interview with CNN:

“The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that.”

Pelosi should go blogger on us, and spend some time fishing through reports on government and watchdog websites. There’s ample room to cut and it’s so simple even a Pelosi could do it.
