For StatCounter, accolades continue to roll in

Aodhan Cullen (founder and CEO of StatCounter) has been chosen as this year’s Internet Hero at the Eircom Golden Spider Awards. The award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of the internet. The Golden Spiders are Ireland’s premier Internet & Web awards. Now in their 12th year, Eircom proudly sponsors these awards, recognizing excellence and achievement in the field. Eircom is Ireland’s largest telecommunications supplier. Read some of Cullen’s interesting remarks at the StatCounter blog. Cullen was named BusinessWeek Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007. StatCounter promptly gave credit for the award to their customers, typical of the congenial attitude you'll see at the blog. These are two of quite a few impressive awards.

In the left column at The US Report, you’ll see the StatCounter logo smaller than the icon you see in this column, and you’ll see the same at our sister blog Covering Florida. I’ve written about StatCounter in my column Web Savvy at The Writer. It’s obvious I’ve found the program indispensable.

The stat tracker is the best I’ve found—I learn what keywords are used by visitors, countries of origin, and many other general informational items that help me determine how to plan content. I pay for a version here; at CF, I use the freebie.

It’s amazing to me to see readers visit TUSR from countries like Japan, France, Germany and other places around the globe. We also have many visitors from national government entities and from universities, hospitals and municipalities. Sometimes the search terms are comical—‘do-nothing Congress’ for instance. After writing a story about the US Congress’s lack of achievements in the last 2 years, I realized the ‘do-nothing’ moniker was a popular search term.

Our congratulations to the StatCounter team on earning more well-deserved recognition—and our appreciation to the same for developing a critical tool for writers. Cullen and his team's work enhance the Web experience for writers and readers.
