Grayson mimics Wilson’s fundraising success, but he lied about GOP plans

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has never been one to hold his tongue, and by now “politicateurs” know about his outburst after-hours on Wednesday. Grayson is one outraged neoliberal—he wanted the world to know exactly how low Republicans are on the morality scale. Republicans want you to die!

There is a “healthcare holocaust in America!”

Well, it sounds good on paper and Grayson’s testosterone will likely help him with all the unions who have skin in the insurance game, but Grayson mutilated the truth. If Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) were sitting here with me, he’d stare at Grayson and yell, “You lie!”

This is all about the money, folks. And Grayson is flat lying about GOP healthcare proposals. [Article continues after photo.]

Grayson fabricated on GOP healthcare plans. The Republican Study Committee has 35 proposal summaries on the website. CBO hasn't scored one of the best, introduced by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.). Gohmert has waited for a CBO score SINCE JULY. Let’s start at the beginning. There is no healthcare “Holocaust” in America. To use that word to describe a political difference is about as low as the worms slithering blindly in the Florida soil in my backyard. I am not sure why Democrats are obsessed with the Nazi regime, but the constant evil symbolism in their rhetoric would make Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) fret and cry if she weren’t such a partisan.

There are details on the roughly 45 million people in the country who lack health insurance. Some of them do not want health insurance. Others are in the country illegally, but they get treated at a hospital if they go to an emergency room—no Dem plan thus far has addressed this issue in a logical manner. Still others are self-employed; this is an important constituency in the mix.

But that’s not the Grayson whopper. He can possibly be excused for screwing up the facts because even President Barack Obama has screwed up the healthcare facts at times. And the Dems have a lot at stake—they must satisfy the unions who desperately need a healthcare fix for members. Dems also owe Hispanic advocacy groups--they've made lots of promises as a vote-garnering move. They learned that, by the way, from some Republicans.

CongressBlog at Fox News quoted Grayson: “I think that the Democrats are sick and tired of being kicked around with death panels. We’re sick of it. They have nothing to offer (on health care) themselves.”

Wilson echo: “You lie!”

The Republican Study Committee has compiled more than 30 plans GOP members of Congress have offered; summaries for each are available online. CBO hasn’t managed to score one common sensical plan put forth by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) which actually solves the healthcare for immigrants issue in a logical manner that doesn’t gouge the taxpayer. Gohmert introduced his bill in July.

It’s understandable Grayson doesn’t know about the RSC plans because it’s likely Grayson doesn’t know about the current America’s Healthy Future Act, 2009, because Democrats voted down an amendment to allow the public 72 hours to read whatever Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and crew come up with.

If Grayson’s pushing HR 3200, the House bill, he’s pushing a lousy deal at you. Because that bill is a pathetic attempt at healthcare reform for several reasons—removal of Medicare Advantage subsidies, a reliance on “self-verification” for those seeking government assistance and taxes for those who refuse to buy insurance. We’ve covered specifics of HR 3200 in depth here at The US Report. Do yourself a favor if you’re pinning hope on that bill: READ THE BILL.

Grayson may have had another motive, a typical political ploy. Fundraising. After Wilson’s outburst during the president’s address to Congress, the SC congressman raked in record amounts of donations because of course the president wasn’t being totally truthful about the legislation and the White House knew it because—wonder of Dem wonders—they changed their tune after the ‘You lie!’ moment.

In the last election cycle, besides his union buddies, Grayson was Grayson’s biggest donor. He self-financed 77 percent of  his campaign—$3,321,189 according to Open Secrets.

So while the Huffington maven and the leftnits are praising Grayson’s outburst, our readers should be reminded Grayson saw a fundraising opportunity and seized the day.

Doesn’t it strike you as strange that Democrats despise the Medicare Drug Prescription Act—not for what the Act did, but for what it cost—but they want to pass a healthcare bill we haven’t read and they haven’t read? Grayson more than likely hasn’t read the Baucus bill either. Did a single member of Dem-allied media think to ask him whether he knows what’s in the Senate committee bill?

We know from the Congressional Budget Office various plans offered by Dems will add record debt to the record debt Grayson’s party is guilty of adding to Main Street’s burden. He’s short on specifics but long on rhetoric. Demonizing Republicans is a typical fundraising tool.

Grayson’s macho moment is nothing more than a political ploy. Otherwise, he and his Party would be praising the Medicare Prescription Drug Act they harp on as a fairly liberal Republican president’s failure. Here’s the description from the Health and Human Services website: “On December 8, 2003, President Bush signed into law the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 (Pub. L. 108-173).  This landmark legislation provides seniors and individuals with disabilities with a prescription drug benefit, more choices, and better benefits under Medicare.”

Does that sound like Republicans want you to die, or does it sound like Grayson lied?
