It’s official: Keith Olbermann has TPDS

Keith Olbermann, we have determined by completely unscientific means, suffers from Tea Party Derangement Syndrome. On the heels of a local blogger’s criticism, Olbermann condemned Jacksonville’s (Fla.) Tea Party because a couple protesters held signs comparing President Barack Obama to Hitler.

Olbermann’s comments also suggested the Duval [he pronounced it ‘Doo-VAL’ with a short ‘a’] County GOP paid for the protest. He’s right on one thing—a couple protesters did carry controversial signs. I pointed out in commentary yesterday at Covering Florida those protesters probably took a page from the neolib playbook since George Bush was depicted as Hitler by his critics, and we’re all familiar with images of Bush portrayed as the devil. I’m thinking the neolib got the Satan comparison from the Iranian president or from America's new buddy the Venezuelan president. [Story continues below photo]

Keith Olbermann criticized people attending the Jax Tea Party, another rmanifestation of TPDS Olbermann suffers from.
Like a bullfrog before rain, Olbermann has croaked criticism of the tea parties since they began in April. TPDS may be contagious—Janeane Garofalo had a tea party meltdown on Olbermann’s MSNBC show. She called tea party protesters ‘racists,’ suggesting the only reason thousands rallied around the country was because President Barack Obama is black.

Symptoms of this syndrome are bulging eyes, croaking, an overly self-righteous presentation and the desire for a complete ‘Nancy State,’ named for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) who wants to apply California fiscal and social policy to the US government.

On his latest breakdown, Olbermann focused on the Jacksonville Tea Party held Jul. 2. The tea party drew a variety of people, approximately 1,000, despite the fact many media outlets in the area forecast fierce storms.

Olbermann declared the Jax Tea Party as one of the ‘worst persons in the world,’ shortly after doing impressions of a Republican senator and political analyst Rush Limbaugh. Olbermann has only one voice for impressions—the sound is identical to the aforementioned bullfrogs. He threw in a defense of ACORN for good measure.

As we pointed out in our Covering Florida column, yes, local Republican leaders did attend the Jax Tea Party. No, the party wasn’t funded or orchestrated by the GOP. Olbermann’s claim about the ‘paid for by’ line tagged onto an emailed announcement about the party is misguided. That ‘paid for by’ line goes on every email I receive from Democratic or Republican parties. It means the email has been paid for by the party. His researchers must have missed that one.

Neolibs like Olbermann go ballistic about tea parties because neolibs love big government. From their elitist perches, neolibs determine what is good for you and for me and seek to exert influence over our lifestyle from cradle to grave. In the neolib holy book—doctrine can be found at Olbermann’s blog at the uber-left website Daily Kos—there is no such thing as personal choice.  Daily Kos, by the way, is the de facto voice for the new Democrats. For elitists like Olbermann, the federal government is parent to all and the ‘general welfare’ phrase in the Constitution means the government will supervise you directly. Neolibs have figuratively burned the US Constitution for quite some time, and that figurative fire started before Obama took office. After our new president arrived, the tea party became a bonfire bordering on complete conflagration. Dems have taken ‘tax and spend’ to a whole new level.

The full statement about the GOP in Duval and the Jax Tea Party can be found at The Jacksonville Observer. Many photos of the tea party can be viewed on the Duval County Republican Party page at Facebook.

Tea Party Derangement Syndrome can be viewed nightly wherever Olbermann’s program airs. There is a cure for TPDS. It can be effected by reading and comprehending the US Constitution.
