Massachusetts GOP candidate for state representative wants accountability in government

Bob Parks, VP of Marketing and Media Relations for the New Media Alliance, is running on the GOP ticket for state representative, 2nd Franklin District in Massachusetts. Parks supports accountability from government on spending issues, a concept many of us believe foreign to Democratic Party candidates like Parks’ opponent Christopher Donelan. I discovered Parks by accident—I found a video on his channel at YouTube. The video features interviews with black conservatives. Some of you may not realize there are black conservatives in the world—don’t be shocked. 'Black conservative' is not an oxymoron. The people interviewed in this video are also Christians.

I’m telling you about Parks not only because I think Massachusetts would benefit from a conservative leader, especially where money is concerned. Obviously, the state is in trouble financially, if The Boston Globe’s reporting is accurate.

I’m telling you about Parks because some people and some media outlets have suggested (through general stories not directed at me personally)  I am a racist because I do not support Sen. Barack Obama for president. Ironically, some of those accusers do not know that my own family is multicultural in every sense of the word.

I’ve talked to many people during the course of this election, and I’ve come to realize there’s a blind allegiance among many who vote Democratic without even considering the platform. I was fairly astounded to hear Gwen Ifill coerce the admission from Sen. Joe Biden during the Vice-Presidential Debate that the Dem ticket does not support gay marriage. I’ve asked several people (one a dear friend)  who are gay what, exactly has the Democratic Party done to advance your cause? I’m still waiting for a good answer.

This isn’t a short video, but I think it illustrates that many of us don’t approach politics from a racial standpoint. It also begs the question—why aren’t these voices attended to by mainstream media? For more information, check out The Alliance of Black Republicans.

[Disclosure: I support McCain-Palin but I receive no funds or rewards for writing about conservatives at this website. If anything, speaking up has cost me money because I work in media.]
