Roger Stone is one of the top political experts in the nation. We've interviewed him several times; he never disappoints. As the Tea Party Express supercharges the nation’s capital on Saturday, top tier politicos and entertainers will headline the Quincy Tea Party’s celebration of the US Constitution. The event parallels the East Coast Tea Party covered in our previous column. The legendary Roger Stone and the ubiquitous Andrew Breitbart top off ‘Lincoln’s Legacy: Patriots on the Prairie’ to be held in Washington Square in downtown Quincy where Abraham Lincoln debated his political opponent Stephen Douglas during the campaign for the presidency more than 150 years ago.
An announcement said the theme for the Quincy event focuses on “moving our country back to where we were on September 12, 2001, when we stood united as Americans.”
In addition to Stone and Breitbart, well-known law professor and author Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) joins numerous others including popular comedian Tim Slagle and The Russell Williams Band. Slagle's tax skit should be required viewing in our schools. Emerging vocalist and songwriter Mackenzie Fairley will also appear. The roster of notables on the website reflects a variety of speaking styles and professional backgrounds.
Andrew Breitbart is one of the most influential voices in politics on the Web.Those who plan to bring a sign are encouraged to include the name of their home city. Mayor John Spring will deliver the welcome address.
The celebration kicks off at 1 p.m., but attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, arrive early and enjoy live music. A mostly sunny day is forecast, but the do will take place rain or shine. Food and beverages will be available in the park from Lickin’s BBQ. The Quincy gathering and the Washington gathering give informed Americans that rare opportunity to listen and to be heard. Both events promise an action-packed day that hopefully elected leaders in Congress will take note of. [Source: Quincy Tea Party news release and staff reports]
