Laffer calls ‘Bill Gates Tax’ in Washington ‘Economic Suicide’

People who are phenomenally rich sometimes speak up for progressive taxation for several reasons. Among them are deep rooted guilt over wealth and the consequential ‘do-good’ reflex to make themselves feel better, and the fact that they can hire top tier accountants to shelter their wealth. I’ve often pointed out that if money men like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates love taxes so much, they should just file a short form on their income taxes and forego taking all their deductions. Same goes for tax-loving Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama. Economist Arthur Laffer apparently agrees with me.
