Was WikiLeaks’ founder Assange an omen of IRS persecution and ‘Media-Gate’?

Wikileaks is a publisher. (Snip: Wikileaks home page)I still remember the scathing look a friend gave me when I told her Julian Assange shouldn’t be on the run from just about every law enforcement agency in the world.

I tried to explain it. I didn’t like what Assange did, especially the leaks that could endanger our troops.

I didn’t care a whit about the diplomats embarrassed by numerous cables showing that highly paid federal employees are often total idiots.

What I did care about was free expression. Assange is a publisher. He publishes what is offered. Case closed.

Wire story on 'toxic states' indicates need for transparency, hearings about EPA regulations

A recent story about an environmental report is a classic example of questionable reportage, this one by the Associated Press.

Should a publisher describe politically active groups in general terms, or should the publisher attempt to be honest when attributing a study?

AP writer says Trayvon Martin looked like Obama—“factual”

The US Report recently took the Associated Press to task for calling President Barack Obama’s sweeping amnesty proposal for illegal aliens a “deportation proposal.” At the least, Obama’s rewriting of existing immigration law, without benefit of Congress, is an “anti-deportation proposal.”

Now the AP has done it again with a statement about Trayvon Martin’s resemblance to Obama.

Has the Associated Press gone off its rocker or does it just heart Obama?

Border Patrol agent pats down a female Mexican being placed in a holding facility. In 2010 the Obama Administration spent taxpayer money to make detention centers “more humane” by adding movie nights, bingo and arts events, among other things. (Photo: US Customs and Border Protection; Gerald L. Nino)A header for an Associated Press story would take top honors if we held a media-gone-off-its-rocker contest.

Did the AP actually write the header? I don’t know, but whoever did write it obviously hearts President Barack Obama.

AP writer quotes a skeptic on blaming extreme weather on global warming

You really don’t have to read what the Associated Press’ Seth Borenstein writes when he tackles global warming and weather.  Borenstein is fully in the camp of government bloc experts who blame carbon emissions every time there’s a weather-related disaster.

However, Borenstein actually quoted someone he disagrees with in a recent story, and that is something to note. There are a few assertions in his story worth noting and commenting on as well.

Do you hear a love song for Obama in AP 'guns and butter' article?

Just as ObamaCare costs have been underestimated, in the opinion of many conservatives, Medicare costs were grossly underestimated by big spender LBJ who promised Medicare would cost about $500 million. To date, there's a $74 TRILLION unfunded liability for Medicare. All caps intentional on that figure. (Photo: US Library of Congress, 1950-1960)The Associated Press featured a story titled ‘Romney on spending: Guns triumph over butter.’ In my opinion, the story amounts to a love song for President Barack Obama.

The AP said that if presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s budget plan comes to fruition, less funding would go to the “poor and disabled” and to services like “food inspection, border security and education.”

Obama, on the other hand, would make only small cuts to Medicare and Medicaid “while socking wealthier people with tax increases.”
