Dinosaurs and vanished river spark questions as OSM seeks answers on Copenhagen

Three different satellite image flyovers were combined from NASA’s Aqua satellite to show the journey of the volcanic ash from Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano as the ash traveled across the southern Pacific Ocean past New Zealand (at left) June 14, 2011. Pajamas Media and PJTV, part of OSM Media, have for more than a year sought answers to questions about government travel to the climate change conference in Copenhagen in 2009. Pajamas Media started asking for answers from the Air Force in a Freedom of Information request filed Dec. 23, 2009.

As PM’s quest has evolved, numerous changes have occurred in the climate of Planet Earth.

Why Florida should meet EPA power grab with power grab

Florida is facing aggressive regulatory moves by the Environmental Protection Agency—the moves constitute a power grab because the US Congress was bypassed. Congress did pass a Cap and Trade Bill (HR 2454), but Democrats couldn’t get a seal of approval from the US Senate.

Florida doesn’t have a program set up to manage greenhouse gases. Gov. Rick Scott’s executive order has suspended rule-writing. This summer is technically the deadline.

Florida can actually seize an opportunity here and set an example for other states. All carbon limiting policy and wannabe policy not only involved limiting carbon but also comprised carbon offsets.

God is great, frogs are good and (some) scientists are nuts

Remember the Great Frog Scare? Science blogger Anthony Watts (Watts Up With That?) has analyzed the reported decline in frogs attributed to various causes: the coal industry, farm practices and of course eventually global warming. Al Gore, a financier of the global warming empire, was only too happy to use the frog figure in presentations about his film ‘An Inconvenient Truth.’ We now know (thanks to a judge in the United Kingdom) Gore’s film had quite a few inconvenient untruths. As it turns out, that frog scare has a few as well.

Government and some universities should offset carbon emissions and avert US consumer tax

The Guardian (UK), a self-declared left of center newspaper often quoted by status quo pundits and wire services, featured a story on Friday about President Barack Obama’s refusal to restore President Jimmy Carter’s solar panels on the White House roof. The panels heated water for the kitchen.

Obama’s refusal is bizarre, considering his support for legislation to limit and tax carbon (Cap and Trade/HR 2454) and the fact the small business loan package (possibly HR 5297—Obama does not cite the bill he’s promoting) he’s touting is geared directly to energy tech and enviro-tech companies—those are two of the targeted industries in addition to others like photonics and digital media. Obama gives the impression the bill is some sort of boon to mom and pop businesses. It isn’t.

Failure of Cap and Trade wards off loss of 1.9 million US jobs

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has announced he can’t get the votes to pass a Cap and Trade bill that would cap carbon emissions and permit the trade of carbon permits. Republicans as well as Democrats from Southern and Western states weren’t buying the idea of legislating policy that would cause consumers to pay those “skyrocketing” prices for electricity President Barack Obama expressed a wish for during his campaign.

The American Council for Capital Formation and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council undertook a comprehensive study of the latest approach, the Kerry-Lieberman ‘American Power Act.’ The study found that as many as 1.9 million jobs could ultimately be lost if that legislation had passed.

IPCC pushes ‘Hottest hoax in the world’ says Open magazine

Commentary by Kay B. Day

US top shelf media refuse to investigate the numerous errors and conflicts in reports from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But in other countries like Australia and England, media routinely carry stories questioning IPCC claims—even newspapers who agree with manmade global warming theory do this. The latest sizzler comes from India’s Open Magazine. OM is published by RPG Enterprises, one of India’s largest publishers.

Open Magazine, published by one of the largest media outlets in India, calls manmade global warming theory 'the hottest hoax in the world.' [Screen snip/Open Magazine]The writer, Ninad D. Sheth, does an excellent job of dissecting IPCC inaccuracies, coming from the panel originally formed to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic consequences.

The IPCC, however, by its own admission does not “conduct any research nor does it monitor climate related data or parameters.” The panel reviews and assesses information. Although a number of key IPCC claims were not peer reviewed, the panel declares review an “essential part” of the process.

Sheth likens the current IPCC to a “climate change mafia.”
