Bolivia’s double standard emerges in Cancun climate gala

Special feature on the Cancun Climate Conference

Bolivia aims to protect “Mother Earth” with “tough action” to limit a rise in world temperatures at half the level set at the climate conference in Copenhagen last year. Reuters said Pablo Solon, Boliva’s UN ambassador, “assailed rich nations.” I assume he did that as he promoted theo-science which is very similar to tree and animal worship in primitive times. But Bolivia has a redwood-sized double standard and I can guarantee you big media will not say a word about it. Solon’s country is anything but a good steward of “Mother Earth.”

Philippine official misses Copenhagen because of volcano

Commentary by Kay B. Day

Provincial Governor Joey Salceda (Albay, the Philippines) missed the climate change gala in Copenhagen because the Mayon volcano came closer to a major eruption. The National Disaster Coordinating Council (Philippines) update issued Tuesday said the alert level of Mayon Volcano was raised “from ALERT LEVEL 2 to ALERT LEVEL 3 which means that magma is close to the crater and hazardous explosive eruption is imminent.”

Salceda had planned to go to Copenhagen to talk about typhoons and natural disasters affecting his province said the Associated Press.

The NDCC update reported “23 volcanic quakes were also recorded from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM 14 December 2009.”

The area affected by Mayon is in a volcanic hot spot—the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Soros offers climate plan, but who are the ‘developing nations’?

Tropical Storm Katrina is shown here as observed by NASA's QuikScat satellite on August 25, 2005, at 08:37 UTC (4:37 a.m. in Florida). At this time, the storm had 80 kilometers per hour (50 miles per hour; 43 knots) sustained winds. The storm did not appear to yet have reached hurricane strength. [Image courtesy of NASA/JPL/QuikScat Science Team.]Big money man George Soros has come up with a climate plan. Al Jazeera (English) reported on Soros’ idea after the billionaire—maybe ‘kazillionaire’ would be more appropriate—said  the $10 billion a year pledged by rich nations “to help the poor adapt to climate change” is not sufficient. Soros wants to up that $10 billion tenfold.

Al Jazeera said, “Soros suggested shifting some International Monetary Fund resources from providing liquidity to stressed global financial systems to a new mission of financing projects in developing countries for clean energy and adapting to climate change…About $100bn in a one-time infusion could be generated…”

The term ‘developing nations’ is ubiquitous these days. But exactly who determines what a developing nation is and what nations are classified under that term?

Copenhagen sex trade puzzles Americans, but it’s the norm in some countries

by Kay B. Day

The idea of legal sex trade combined with sex workers’ unions may puzzle Americans, but some countries regulate the trade and derive revenue from the same. As dignitaries, financiers, entrepreneurs, government bureaucrats and groupies head to Copenhagen for the big climate change powow, sex trade workers are prepping by making an unusual offer—a sort of coupon for sex.

Wire story on global warming shows root problem in newspapers’ meltdown

Updated on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 1:24PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

by Kay B. Day

On the heels of one of the greatest scandals in the history of science, my hometown newspaper ran stories on global warming, carbon dioxide levels and the end of the world in 2012. The stories ran in section A in Sunday’s big fat paper—fat because of all the Christmas advertising inserts. There was no mention of the scandal, however. [Story continues after photo.]

My copy of my hometown newspaper's Sunday feature on global warming, along with a feature on carbon dioxide emissions and a feature on the end of the world. No opinions opposing global warming alarmism could be found on the page.

Commentary by Kay B. Day

My gerbera daisies love carbon dioxide. The British Broadcasting Corp. made a confession of sorts with an article titled, ‘What happened to global warming?’ Saying the warmest year “globally” was 1998, The BBC admitted, “For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.”
