Durbin gets agitated at question from Baier about ‘God’ and platform

Democrats belabored the Republican Party platform during the GOP convention in Tampa, and turnabout is fair play. Well, it's fair play unless you're a Democrat.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) apparently doesn’t appreciate the challenge.

In an interview on Tuesday, Durbin became extremely agitated as he accused a veteran journalist of bias although the journalist had asked a simple question.

For Clinton at DNC, it’s a legacy speech; for Crist, search for a political future

Photo: The US Report/KBDPresident Bill Clinton will speak at the Democrats’ national convention in Charlotte, and so will former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.

Sarah Palin offers a contrast so sharp it cuts.

Updated on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 3:22PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

First there were claims that Bruce Springsteen was going to perform at Invesco Field on Thursday night when Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) makes his acceptance speech. But CBS News says Springsteen won’t be there to support the Democratic Convention’s nominee. After this major network handed out despair, Politico dished up hope, telling media Stevie Wonder will be there. Other media say Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am plans to recreate the viral video he produced earlier this year—the theme was ‘yes, we can.’ Live Daily says Bon Jovi may be there. Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson will sing the National Anthem. The performers' list pales in comparison to the speakers'.

Slate says overt racism clouds the Obama-McCain battle

If you don’t plan to vote for Sen. Barack Obama for president and if you are white and presumably vote for Sen. John McCain, you are a racist. So says Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief of The Slate Group and not coincidentally, author of The Bush Tragedy. Weisberg has an op-ed in Slate—“Racism is the only reason Obama might lose.”

Weisberg’s commentary fell on my brain the same way music by ABBA does when I’m stuck in an elevator. Weisberg is kind of right about racism, though, but one major aspect escaped his intellect. Consider these figures from the New York Times poll Weisberg cites to prove that white people won’t vote for Obama because he’s [one-half] black.
