Republicans bring bubble wand to street fight; 4 more years of Democrat rule

When headers flashed across the TV screen declaring President Barack Obama had won reelection, I zapped the TV and went to bed. I can’t say I was surprised although I’d hoped for a different outcome.

Pundits will dissect this election for years to come.

I think the reason Republicans lost was fairly simple.

We brought a bubble wand to a street fight.

Romney truthful on key to economy: Obama “Not Mr. Oil, Mr. Gas or Mr. Coal”

This brief video produced by a conservative PAC perfectly illustrates the danger of a president whose policies weaken an economy as well as national defense. [Video: American Crossroads]

WITH AMERICANS PAYING MORE for gas, household electricity, food, clothing and perishables that must be transported, you’d think energy would have been front and center of the second presidential debate on Tuesday.

The topic did come up, and despite the moderator Candy Crowley at times acting as de facto surrogate for President Barack Obama, Republican nominee Gov. Mitt Romney got in some facts that will hit home with most of us down here on Main Street.

Start with the fact that under President Obama, you are coming up short an additional $375 per month in income.

Government and some universities should offset carbon emissions and avert US consumer tax

The Guardian (UK), a self-declared left of center newspaper often quoted by status quo pundits and wire services, featured a story on Friday about President Barack Obama’s refusal to restore President Jimmy Carter’s solar panels on the White House roof. The panels heated water for the kitchen.

Obama’s refusal is bizarre, considering his support for legislation to limit and tax carbon (Cap and Trade/HR 2454) and the fact the small business loan package (possibly HR 5297—Obama does not cite the bill he’s promoting) he’s touting is geared directly to energy tech and enviro-tech companies—those are two of the targeted industries in addition to others like photonics and digital media. Obama gives the impression the bill is some sort of boon to mom and pop businesses. It isn’t.

Diane Sawyer practically begs Energy Czar for gas tax hike

Screen capture of website for 'Good Morning, America,' the ABC show I call 'Good Morning, Comrades!'The ABC program ‘Good Morning America’ isn’t my cup of coffee—my husband tunes in to it while he’s getting ready for work. But this morning Diane Sawyer’s advocacy for a gas tax hike woke me up faster than a triple espresso.

White House Energy Czar Carol Browner, who’s been at the Environmental Protection Agency since President Bill Clinton appointed her in 1993, faced Sawyer on the ABC show Tuesday morning to answer questions about President Barack Obama’s plans for fuel standards on autos. Browner just kept repeating the standard promotional thesis of more miles per gallon, saving consumers bucks at the pump (but costing more for the upfront purchase of the vehicle). Browner tossed in the clean air/less carbon emissions bonanza that’s going to actually up the price of everything from household energy to nail polish, but as we like to say, that’s a rant for another day. Over and over Sawyer gave a nod to neoliberal writer Thomas L. Friedman’s dream goal of a gas tax or a carbon tax.

Those America-loving neo-libs love to come up with ideas to punish the American people. What I had a hard time dealing with was Sawyer’s apparent bias for a tax that will further burden the American people. That is one of many reasons I call the show ‘Good morning, Comrades!’

Blogosphere fires on AP for alarmist article on global warming

Please note the correction to this article regarding the asteroid Apophis. Within the story the deletion is noted within brackets. We thank our readers for setting us straight. See the 'Comments' section below.

Earth, our home planet, has oceans of liquid water, and continents that rise above sea level. NASA scientists combined satellite photographs with surface data to create this detailed image of Earth's land masses and oceans. The swirling mass of clouds west of Mexico is a large hurricane. [Image credit: NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center]I read the header (‘Obama left with little time to curb global warming’) and then I read the descriptive: “a ticking time bomb.” And I swore to myself I’d ignore this latest appeal by an alarmist writer who, not surprisingly, writes for the Associated Press which means his work will be memed and taken for gospel around the world. As might be expected, the writer in question, Seth Borenstein, is an environmental apostle of Al Gore's theology. He noted Gore’s influence on President-Elect Barack Obama after a meeting the twosome had, with Obama emerging to declare, “The time for denial is over.” Gore has issued environmental epistles since Bill Clinton was president. If you think about the threesome, and their expertise, we have one with an expertise in government, one with some experience as a community organizer and lawyer, and another whose major was journalism. These three men are influencers on global energy policy. And the blogosphere is having a ball with their 'end of days' warnings.
