Stealth Assault: Durbin enters ongoing political push against First Amendment

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is the latest in a long line to push hard against the First Amendment. Durbin is ALEC is being targeted by Sen. Dick Durbin despite the First Amendment. (Snip: ALEC home page)assisted unofficially by some legacy media. Other efforts to degrade the First have been launched by his fellows like Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) and at least one Republican. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reached across the murky aisle to help sponsor a bill that is indisputably unconstitutional.

Durbin's efforts targeted the American Legislative Exchange Council, a nonprofit membership organization that seeks to inform about free markets, federalism and limited government. Durbin followed a paradigm adopted by the IRS after tea party groups began to multiply.

Misleading, unconstitutional ‘Journalist’ bill heads for Senate floor

A bill many leftist newspapers like The L.A. Times are promoting as a “bill to protect journalists” has cleared a U.S. Senate panel. Don’t be fooled.

Parsed as a reporter’s “shield bill,” Democrats imply it will protect real “journalists” from having to reveal sources and testify about information gleaned during research and investigations. Who has the power to define what a journalist actually is?

Holder not the first Obama appointee to trample First Amendment

The Special Mission Compound in Benghazi (Libya) after the Sept. 11 attacks. (Photo: Benghazi pages, FBI)Attorney General Eric Holder, said Politico, “called the investigation that involved Fox News reporter James Rosen ‘appropriate…’”

Ironically Holder has said nothing about the leaker(s) within the administration of President Barack Obama. The only viable recourse an administration should have when it comes to “leaks” is investigating its own employees.

We should be asking ourselves why so much information is kept secret.

Holder isn't the first Obama appointee to trample the First Amendment.

Graham trips over remarks about bloggers and ‘First Amendment protection’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) recently tripped over his words in a discussion about bloggers, journalists and who would “deserve First Amendment protection.”

National Journal reported Graham’s remarks:

"Who is a journalist is a question we need to ask ourselves," he said. "Is any blogger out there saying anything—do they deserve First Amendment protection? These are the issues of our times."

For starters, the homeless guy on the street enjoys First Amendment protection, not because he deserves it, but because it is a God-given right just like all the other rights Americans have.

Politicians and media workers have long debated the labels “journalist” and “blogger.”  These days, with self-publication at everyone’s fingertips, who exactly is a journalist?

Benghazi and IRS targeting conservatives is First Amendment ‘sideshow’ with Dem actors

President Barack Obama told the world the controversy over editing Benghazi talking points was “a sideshow.” Obama made the remarks during a joint presser with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday.

Our president, various officials, and media have failed to note that ‘sideshow’ relates to the First Amendment and he started the ball rolling. None have noted the story breaking about IRS has something in common with Benghazi: the spirit of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Lost in Benghazi arguments: Significance of Obama, Romney and the First Amendment

As leftwingers attempt to deflect criticism of the administration of President Barack Obama on the Benghazi meltdown, rightwingers are having a field day arguing that the deaths of 4 Americans were unnecessary and could have been prevented.

Image: The US ReportWhat’s missing from both sides is an acknowledgement that Obama and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton opted to dilute the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as the Benghazi narrative emerged.

From the White House, hypocrisy on First Amendment and Piers Morgan

Alex Jones (Infowars) took on CNN's Piers Morgan on the subject of gun control. (Screen snip, video at InfoWars)Perpetual big government critic Alex Jones started a petition to have CNN talking head Piers Morgan deported. Morgan had made anti-gun statements after media manipulated the Connecticut shootings tragedy for political purposes. Morgan is from England.

The petition drew more than 100,000 signatures, according to media. That earned a response from the White House.

Here’s what President Barack Obama’s mouthpiece Jay Carney said:

“... In the meantime, it is worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy."

If you wanted a textbook example of perfect hypocrisy, look no further.
