Tell Gretchen: Fox News brought up proportional delegates before Newt

Graphic from Florida Division of Elections, state of Florida

Sometimes indie bloggers wait for national media to come to their senses. On Tuesday morning, on ‘Fox and Friends,’ Gretchen Carlson asked why former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was just now bringing up the matter of proportional awards of delegates based on Florida’s Republican Presidential Primary results.

Carlson overlooked the fact her own network brought this up in late September, 2011.

After Florida Primary, natter about ‘very poor’ and phone calls

The parking lot at one NE Florida precinct says it all. About 300 people had voted there by 12:30 p.m. on Primary Day. The US Report made calls to voters in several areas. All said they didn't have to wait in line.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s infrastructure paid off on Tuesday when he added Florida to his victory roster in the Republican primaries and caucuses. Most Florida political observers expected Romney to win, especially after former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich’s restraint in the two debates a week ahead of the primary

By Wednesday morning, the blogosphere was abuzz over something Romney did and something Gingrich didn’t do.

Quinnipiac shows Mitt leads, but supporters more committed to Newt

Could anything be crazier than the Florida GOP Presidential Primary? In a single week, we’ve seen supporters of Gov. Mitt Romney showing up at events for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and the Romney campaign saying no on a takedown notice sent by NBC news regarding an ad.

The Romney camp doesn’t have to worry about any fines they might have to pay; it’s a given the governor has the campaign bucks. The controversial ad, one of an avalanche of attack ads on Gingrich, shows the Speaker when he was reprimanded by Congress. The ad of course doesn't show the announcements from media when Gingrich was cleared.

A new Quinnipiac poll shows Romney leading Gingrich. There’s an intriguing item in the poll, however, that shows the race is still fluid.

Did earlier primary for Florida help cause divisiveness?

There’s an article at Sunshine State News quoting Florida Senate president Mike Haridopolos (R-Merritt Island) on the wisdom of moving the state’s primary ahead. Haridopolos suggested it was a good move for the candidates and the state.

Haridopolos also said this:

“He added that the Legislature has been shown to have made the correct choice, even at the expense of half the state’s delegates to the GOP national convention, which will be held in Tampa in August.”

Obviously, Washington is terrified.

I didn’t even have to look. As I switched on the computer this morning, I knew exactly what the header on Drudge would be.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) phrased her words carefully, but she still set herself up.

Will South Carolina thin the GOP field?

South Carolina's natural beauty is indisputable. The Palmetto State, however, will be do-or-die for some candidates in the GOP Primary field. (View of Lake Murray by Kay B. Day)Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney now has wins in two states. Candidates are setting up shop in South Carolina, and that state’s GOP Primary will more than likely be a major factor in who stays in the race. Carolina will be the state where the field gets thinned I think.

Many media have pointed out that no other non-incumbent Republican candidate has won in both Iowa and New Hampshire since 1976.

Every time I hear 1976 mentioned in the context of Republican politics, I wonder why we’d want to remember that year.
