Show me a living breathing creature and I will show you a being that by its innate nature seeks freedom just as we seek food, water and shelter. A new Gallup Poll has found that even Democrats whose Party philosophy is wrapped around big government ideas may be falling out of love with the progressive model.

Longtime liberals in US House help inspire record low ratings for Congress

When Rep. Henry Waxman won a seat in the House in 1975, Barry Manilow's song 'Mandy' was a hit. Waxman is shown here in 2009 during Energy and Commerce hearings about HR 2454, the Cap and Trade bill. Waxman suggested Americans would accept Cap and Trade (and therefore higher gas and utility prices) if they were "incentivized." He said, "You gotta have some threat sometimes."Gallup has released a new poll ‘Confidence in Institutions’ and the outlook for Congress is grim. Gallup said Congress ranked “dead last” out of 16 institutions. Only 11 percent of Americans said they have a “great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.” That percentage is an all-time low.

A cursory look at the US House of Representatives leadership reflects an entrenched group of liberal politicos who have served in Congress long enough to build structures of political power and opportunity.
