Super Committee grows; fiscal conservative Toomey added by GOP

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) named three progressives to the Super Committee on Tuesday, and six more names have been added by other leaders in Congress.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced his picks at the majority leader’s House website. Boehner selected Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), Dave Camp (R-Mich.) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.)

NPR said GOP Senate picks have also been announced: “On the Senate side, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has chosen Sens. Jon Kyl of Arizona, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Rob Portman of Ohio to serve on the committee.”

Toomey is one of the soundest fiscal conservatives in the Senate.US Congress

Minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) hasn’t announced her selections yet, but the final three selectees will be as liberal if not more liberal than the Senate picks.
