Rubio and Crist go mano a mano with Fox News' Chris Wallace

Former Speaker of the Florida House Marco Rubio spoke at the Duval County Republican Women's meeting in May. He packed the house. [Photo by Kay B. Day]Former Speaker of the Florida House Marco Rubio goes mano a mano with The Sunshine State’s Governor Charlie Crist in a debate on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

Rubio and Crist are locked in a duel to determine the GOP nominee for the US Senate seat vacated by Mel Martinez.

The race has galvanized grassroots conservatives drawn to Rubio’s limited government message and it has surprised GOP insiders who initially assumed Florida’s popular governor would be a shoo-in for Martinez’s seat.

Big signal: With health takeover complete, feds return to climate change agenda

Commentary written by Frances Beinecke for Reuters AlertNet, self-described as a “humanitarian news network” that’s part of Reuters, is a big signal of what President Barack Obama plans to do next.

With the healthcare takeover behind him for the moment, Obama is expected to take up the other cause that makes the leftwing bureaucratic heart beat with the speed of hummingbird wings: climate change. He's already had success with HR 2454, popularly known as the 'climate change bill,' passed by the House.

Beinecke is president of the Natural Resources Defense Council, described in her bio tag as “a U.S.-based environmental activist organization.”

NRDC has over the years been viewed by many of those I know and have worked with who are dedicated to the environment as a rabid group of politicos whose deepest desire is to return us to the Stone Age. In other words, the group has been traditionally viewed as radical even by liberals.

Inhofe gives ‘sneak peak’ into new Climategate report after EPA turns blind eye

Steve Mosher and Tom Fuller recently released their book ‘Climategate: The Crutape Letters.’ Top climate change website Watts Up With That said, “For those of you that want to follow a detective story, this one has as the twists and turns of Mickey Spillane with a Hardy Boys approach to a matter of fact story line. I highly recommend it.”Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, has released a ‘sneak-peek’ into a major new Senate report on an investigation of the Climategate scandal. A statement at Inhofe’s Senate website said emails and documents were reviewed from “a 13-year period from 1996 through November 2009.” The Environmental Protection Agency ignored the serious implications of the emails and documents made public.

What emerged from the Senate committee investigation of Climategate, Inhofe said,  “is much more than, as EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson put it, scientists who ‘lack interpersonal skills.’”

Congress still spending like crazy, and taxpayers will fund the spree

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), speaking about HR 2454, also called 'Cap and Trade,' told former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, "You gotta' have some threat sometimes..." Waxman was talking about the burden of energy taxes for Americans. As Democrats controlling the U.S. Congress seek creative ways to tax Americans to pay for expanding welfare and funding Cap and Trade [HR 2454], they’ve been on a spending spree. Congress was happy to accept automatic pay raises. They’ve increased “official” travel –for example, to Galapagos to “study global warming”—and they’ve even increased their $1.3 million discretionary accounts by $93,000 per member. This Congress boosted each lawmaker’s office budget by 8 percent, part of legislation “to head off a government shutdown,” said Real Clear Politics.

The rest of us are seeing pay cuts and lost jobs. Small businesses are hysterically struggling just to hang on. Congress fiddles while taxpayer money burns.

Why did Congress have to pass the anti-shutdown legislation?

The UN building must create a large carbon footprint of its own. Alarmists like Al Gore rarely consider their own footprint. [Photo from UN website.]After President Barack Obama’s speech to the United Nations Tuesday, Americans will soon see pressure on Congress to pass climate change legislation, HR 2454. The bill is alternatively called ‘Waxman-Markey’ or ‘Cap and Trade’. We prefer the term ‘Cap and Raid’ because this bill will create an economic bubble Democrats are famous for and we believe it will transfer American wealth out of Main Street pockets into hedge fund coffers and developing countries with weak governments. Obama said the U.S. is “determined” to combat climate change, according to Fox News.

Big Labor pushing costly Cap and Trade: ‘boosts jobs, helps environment’

by Kay B. Day

The EPA no longer refers to global warming, having adopted the new term of 'climate change' to justify categorizing the gas humans exhale as a pollutant. The national psyche is obsessed with healthcare, but just around the corner historic decisions loom and those decisions will affect the daily lives of every American. The US Senate will take up HR 2454, the Cap and Trade bill alternatively called Waxman-Markey or perhaps most appropriately Cap and Tax. Big Labor is pushing for the bill; groundwork has already been accomplished.
