Despite loopholes in HR 3200, Obama the ultimate salesman

President Barack Obama did a slick sales presentation on HR 3200. Obama is so skilled at salesmanship he could sell fleas to a dog.One thing about our president—his sales skills outrank those of  the slickest used car salesman. One of the numerous specifics President Barack Obama and the Democrats aren’t talking about is a section in HR 3200, the bill I call ‘Crat Care, that creates the same loophole that tanked mortgage lending. The item in question is in Sec. 1203. Eliminating Barriers to Enrollment. Here’s an excerpt and please note I am directly quoting the obscure legalese:

Cornyn issues ‘fishy’ list, confirms ‘facts are stubborn things’

Sen. Cornyn met with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano in his Washington office to discuss comprehensive immigration reform. Napolitano has been criticized for an April assessment of rightwing extremism issued by the DHS. The assessment was so broad it essentially classified the entire conservative movement as right wing extremism. One Republican senator isn’t backing down from criticizing an information gathering action by The White House. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) has even come up with his own “fishy” list in response to The White House blog call for emails if someone spots or hears something “fishy” about President Barack Obama and the Democrats’ health plans. I can’t really say legislation, because none of us have an idea what will be in the final bill.

This Congress has addressed healthcare reform with unsurpassed ineptitude in crafting the legislation. I’ve even wondered exactly who came up with the policy and procedure; it reads like a demand for union benefits in my opinion [freely expressed under rights protected by The US Constitution.] Open Congress has easy-to-access information and comments on HR 3200. For the US government document info, check out Thomas--you have to input the bill number there.

The abysmal failure with healthcare reform is a refusal by administrations past and present, regardless of Party, to act on real reform. Instead, the approach appears to involve expanding the welfare base for a group of uninsured which, if truth is told, is far smaller if you simply assess American citizens.

‘Hardball’ pundit grills FreedomWorks, fawns on Union leader

These green peppers aren't as hot as Bhut Jolokia, adjudged the hottest peppers in the world by researchers at New Mexico State University.Chris Matthews went to bat for the Democratic healthcare plan I call ‘Crat-care’ and Matthews’ leftwing political libido was as hot as a Bhut Jolokia. Matthews was allegedly interviewing Max Pappas, vice-president for Public Policy at FreedomWorks, and Gerald Shea, assistant to the president of the AFL-CIO. Matthews went into attack mode as he grilled Pappas and fawned over Shea.

“I’ve never met a person in the world who wants to get rid of Medicare,” said Matthews. He should read my columns. Medicare was one of the many misguided ideas President Lyndon B. Johnson had. The program removed millions from the private sector, increasing costs for those who aren’t on government plans. Like every other leftie I’ve met, Matthews doesn’t talk specifics about the legislation Dems are trying to sell, even though most of them probably haven’t read HR 3200 either. I’d be willing to bet union orgs are intimately familiar with the bill.

Nor does Matthews address the constituency within the alleged “45 million” without health insurance. If reform is what you’re after, HR 3200 isn’t going to give it to you. That is my opinion, freely expressed in accordance with my constitutional rights.

Matthews, former “spinmeister” for the late Tip O’Neill, icon of Democrat New Deal socialism, not unsurprisingly gave the union guy a pass. “Are you gonna’ back this bill?” O’Neill asked. That’s like asking my hound dog, “Do you really want this doggie biscuit?”

Of course the AFL-CIO is backing the bill. A position paper on the AFL-CIO website shows the union organization marches alongside Dem leaders on one key issue—a public health insurance plan.

Dear Mr. Macon Phillips at The White House blog: 'Facts are stubborn things'

Recommended reading for The White House and Congress: 'Atlas Shrugged.' Ayn Rand's novel predicted the politics of today and the assault on freedom we are experiencing.I read with interest your post, ‘Facts are stubborn things,’ citing “disinformation” about health insurance reform. To be honest, disinformation isn’t really necessary when it comes to HR 3200. The Democratic approach to the healthcare crisis is not only inept, it is unsound. Our current crisis in my opinion has been largely created by government entitlement programs.

And just in case any of the “Netrootsters” find my comments “fishy,” I’m addressing you directly with these remarks. That way you don’t have to spend government money finding me.

I’ll be honest. There’s a big chance I might let my concerns about HR 3200 slip during a “casual conversation” in a coffee shop or at the corner store. I talk to everybody—the diversity of our great country never ceases to fascinate me. I must share with you I talk to a lot of Democrats—most of my family and many of my friends and almost all my associates in the writing sphere pledge loyalty to your party. Many of them, by the way, don’t appreciate your health insurance approach either. And almost all of them are upset with your Party’s spending.

Mr. Phillips, are you acquainted with the Library of Congress? Amazing place. I’d really appreciate it if you’d visit the library and have a sit down with the United States Constitution. I assume you are on federal payroll, so I think it would be a great idea if you were to frame a copy of the Constitution and hang it above your desk. Because when you published your post,  you made federal employee history.

You are the first federal employee I can recall to use The White House to so publicly and flagrantly trespass on the intent of our founders’ very first words in the sacred and technically legally binding document known as the Constitution. Here is one of the most egregious passages in your post: “There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

A number of media have run stories about your abuse of the first amendment. You didn’t get that far with me. You tripped over the very first paragraph in the Preamble. In the Preamble, “We the people” ordained and established the Constitution with a number of goals in mind. Among those goals: “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…” At least one well-regarded conservative blogger believes you have abused a federal law.

Emails and private conversations are private. No government official, particularly an official working closely with the top executive in our land, should ever ask the people’s friends and neighbors to spy on behalf of partisan legislation. Your administration has shocked me before--questionable campaign donations and our president's own earmarks when he was in the Senate are real controversies blue chip media has ignored. But your little spy-on-your-neighbor project tops the list.

This may shock you, but Americans are not stupid. From the day laborer to the CEO, many of us are not ill-informed—technology has given us amazing tools for monitoring our government. We could not do that at key moments in our fiscal history, such as the time President Lyndon Johnson established Medicare and Medicaid. Both programs have moved consumers from the private to the public sector, increasing premiums and costs for those of us on private insurance plans. In addition, hospitals are required to provide medical care to people who come to our country under the radar, never bothering to observe federal law integral to maintaining our nation’s security. Federal programs have distorted the market. Furthermore, slack oversight has resulted in record fraud afflicting public programs. You don't have to take my word for that. It's documented by the FBI.

Healthcare is rightfully and logically the business of state government.

You may be miffed that your party cannot delude the populace with your own disinformation campaign. All politics is local as they say and you may be upset that constituents are actually trying to talk to the people they elect to represent them. And here’s a revelation. Once elected, that official is bound to represent voters from any political party, even if they are, as Dem California senator Barbara Boxer said, "well-dressed."

Democrats have done a poor job of explaining exactly what is in HR 3200—even our president’s news conference dispensed nothing more than rhetoric. If health reform fails, it will fail because your Party attempted to hoodwink the populace by passing a bill many in Congress admit they haven’t read.

Not one Democrat has talked about the constituency in the 45 million who do not obtain health insurance. Not one Democrat has talked about the long-term costs of HR 3200 or shared that the Congressional Budget Office has pointed out a negative impact on the vulnerability of minimum wage employees.

If our president wants to sell a plan to the people, he should have the bill on the teleprompter and use specifics. If our president wants to clear up “disinformation,” the smart tactic is to supply facts about HR 3200 rather than resorting to political rhetoric.

And above all, please remember, the Constitution provides ample restraints on what you and your Party can do to control private statements that seem “fishy” to you and the president. We are a free people.

Facts, Mr. Phillips, are “stubborn things” indeed.

Reid’s ‘take on the world’ bluster pits Main Street against government in healthcare war

[Photo Credit: James Gathany, Centers for Disease Control ]Democrats are giddy these days, at least they are if they’re the Pelosi/Reid/Emanuel brand—lover of big government, spend and taxer, paramour of the Nanny State whose first marriage came long ago to another like-minded Dem, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. For these Dems, times are good. The New Deal and the concept of “recovery” constitute the approach and platform for the Party holding absolute power in Washington. So it seemed apropos when wire services reported Sen. Harry Reid issued a war cry after President Barack Obama had lunch with most members of the Senate Dem caucus. And trying to look as warrior-like as possible I’m sure, Reid said, “We’re ready to take on the world.”

By that statement I assume most Democratic Party speechwriters are crafting heartfelt apologies at an increased pace, assuring the world the US is to blame for every mishap around the globe. And I assume Reid also intended to go full speed ahead with what he and his ideological kin are calling “healthcare reform,” gathering the troops to go forth in the waning days of summer and sell Americans the most ineptly crafted bill I have seen, even surpassing the Energy bill the Dems rushed together with the speed of an ACORN employee soliciting voter registrations.

The Washington Post ran a header, ‘Health Insurance Lobby Strikes Back at Industry’s Critics.’ The article reported on remarks in a news release by Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans.

Why the GOP should not cave in to ‘Crat care AKA HR 3200

In the news Tuesday is Sen. Charles Schumer starring in a blog post at USA Today. The paper reported on healthcare remarks by the senator who started a chain reaction in bank failures with a letter about IndyMac (and then washed his hands of the whole affair). Basically Schumer believes a healthcare bill can pass without Republican support, and this of course is not news. Democrats can do whatever they want to—they hold absolute power in the executive and legislative branches of our government. And Schumer, like other misguided liberals, wants Americans to come aboard for what I call ‘Crat care, the Democratic model for healthcare reform.

The Dem push has, with a great deal of help from media and the political class, addressed the need for healthcare reform as a “crisis.” Of course it isn’t. If you are flat busted broke and living under a bridge, you can get treatment at any emergency room. If you are in the country illegally and need care, the same applies. If you’re a gang member in a dustup and 4 or 5 of you decide to shoot each other, you will receive care when public dollars are used to transport you to the nearest trauma center. If you are an unmarried woman with children and no father involved in their lives, rest easy. The government will provide care for as many children as you choose to produce.

And of course all that treatment is courtesy of the US taxpayer.

There’s a telling editorial by Dr. Bernadine Healy at US News and World Report.

Healthcare legislation alert: Ask your representative to oppose HR 3200

Updated on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:24PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

Rep. Ander Crenshaw will oppose HR 3200. Shown here: Crenshaw attending a ceremony honoring the Duval County Shoreline Protection Project in Atlantic Beach.Dems are desperately rushing healthcare legislation most of them haven’t even read. A bulletin from Red State said, “House Democrats have cut a deal on healthcare reform with the Blue Dog Democrats. They meet this afternoon to mark up their bill and rush it through the House of Representatives.”

Every time I hear the term ‘Blue Dog’ I do two things: cringe and admire. I cringe because you cannot be a Democrat and be a true conservative. I admire because the branding is brilliant—the big government-loving Democratic Party garners independent votes by claiming a conservative coalition. It’s rather like cheesecake leering from your dessert plate promising you cholesterol is actually good for you.

Call your representative now.
