Progressives pull the race card in prostitution of identity politics

Progressives preach diversity, but if you step outside the collectivist box, the shunning begins.

The Associated Press ran a story on Sunday—‘GOP Latinos face questions over immigrant pasts.’

Has anyone ever considered looking into the ‘immigrant pasts’ of Democrats’ families?

Even the AP recognizes the double standard.

How many times have you ever seen a reporter asked elected Democrat officials questions about their family’s background?

‘Don’t Vote’ ad riles pundits, raises questions on identity politics, double standard

A commercial some are calling the ‘Don’t Vote’ ad is riling pundits because the message tells Hispanics not to vote. A politics writer with The Las Vegas Review-Journal called the ad “the most despicable and offensive political ad of Nevada's 2010 season…”

SPLC report on ‘radical right’ abounds with adjectives and self-contradictions

Commentary by Kay B. Day

The Southern Poverty Law Center, by necessity, survives because of the hatred the organization perceives in so called ‘radical right’ groups. Those groups are upset with government policy on taxes and immigration, among other things. SPLC said there are almost 1,000 hate groups in the U.S. What is the criteria for being listed as a hate group?

‘So-called patriot groups’ are one example included in the SPLC rant, defined as “militias and other organizations that see the federal government as part of a plot to impose ‘one-world government’ on liberty-loving Americans…”

Lawsuits blame Florida education system for graduation rates, unsafe schools

Commentary by Kay B. Day

Parents assisted by the Southern Legal Counsel and Fund Education Now have filed lawsuits against Florida’s education system. Complaints include the state’s failure “to provide the necessary resources for education,” The Florida Times-Union said. That failure causes low regular-diploma type graduation rates and lack of school safety. These groups follow the lead of the American Civil Liberties Union’s lawsuit, Aho et al. vs. Charlie Crist et al., filed in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida.

The lawsuits  apparently have to do with how much money is allocated to schools. One parent cited by the T-U said it actually had to do more with how the money is spent, although the paper said that the lawsuit mainly addresses funding in general.

Most studies and lawsuits claiming to act on behalf of students break school populations down by racial groups. Most always cite a gap between whites, hispanics and blacks.

C-SPAN guest claims no knowledge of Reich's 'white male construction workers' caveat

C-SPAN had an excellent program this morning—I caught part of the ‘Distribution of Stimulus to States’ as Joy Wilson, Counsel to the National Conference of State Legislators talked about states like California getting top federal dollars. Wilson pointed out the Democratic plan passed by the U.S. House of Representatives (with no Republican support) is actually a “recovery” plan rather than a stimulus plan.

“Just words” as President Barack Obama said during the campaign, but words that offer a p.r. shield if something goes wrong as many economists predict and the plan doesn’t get the economy moving.

What was interesting to me was Wilson’s claim she had no idea what a caller meant when he asked her about economic advisor Robert Reich’s comments about ‘white male construction workers.’ To be fair, Reich also mentioned ‘highly skilled professionals’ in his original statement. The gist of Reich’s statements, though, came across as directing federal dollars to the long-time unemployed and minorities—no big change in Democratic politics there.  You can see the video below and decide for yourself.
