Obama’s “immigration reform” message misguided, uninformed

President Barack Obama stood in the shadow of a giant flag (“about half the size of a football field”*) planted in Mexico at the border in El Paso (Texas). Obama is busy building his 2012 reelection foundation, and he relied on politics rather than fact to draw support. He poked fun at Republicans and he beat the “comprehensive immigration reform” drum to a pulp.

Not once—not ever—has Obama talked about the fiscal impact of foreign nationals in the U.S. without documentation. We do not have an “immigration” problem and nor do those who want to come here. We have a foreign policy problem and we have a national security problem. The president is apparently clueless to both. When he held an immigration "stakeholders" meeting, he didn't invite a single border governor.

Lack of border security and federal accountability cost taxpayers billions

A medallion marks the spot where the US and Mexico borders meet. [Customs and Border Patrol photo by James R. Tourtellotte]We’re hearing a lot about US debt these days, with both parties vowing to cut spending. There’s an issue that should be part of the discussion and the only reason it isn’t has to do with political tactics—no one wants to shine a light on our porous border and no one wants to discuss the failure of past and current administrations to hold the federal government accountable for fraud, and no one wants to talk about the costs associated with law enforcement when it comes to citizens of foreign countries.

Michael Cutler spent 30 years working with the Immigration and Naturalization Service. He’s a well known face on programs that cover politics. Cutler, who says on his website he is a Democrat, recently called attention to a particular case involving an “immigration consulting business” catering primarily to Indian nationals.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement disclosed that principals of the consulting business were charging aliens (term used by government) as much as $60,000 for documentation. The owners have been charged with visa fraud.

Democrat Congress ignored warnings on payout of billions to illegals

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) preened for TV cameras on Thursday, proud of her efforts to enable a tax increase on what she and her fellow Democrats call the “wealthy.” But Pelosi and Senate leader Harry Reid have ignored a series of warnings from the U.S. Treasury Dept. about the payout of billions in tax refunds to illegal aliens. Many Americans believe you have to have a social security number to get such payouts—you don’t.

Does rubber stamp approach to immigration threaten US security?

“Tens of thousands already come in, invited to do so, through processes of 1)diversity visas (50 thousand every year); I-130 petitions of alien relatives (to include fiancee visas); I-140 petitions for residence based on work and the perverted political asylum process. ..There are more than 900 immigration laws in the United States.”—Message to the US Report

Various messages to The US Report as well as reports compiled by the highly regarded Center for Immigration Studies and other groups suggest reckless decisions are being made by people in key positions at federal agencies.

GOP senators’ letter to DHS a small part of backdoor immigration

Politicians harp on America’s ‘broken immigration system,’ but the fact is the system isn’t broken, it’s overwhelmed. Couple the numbers who want to come to the US with the mindset that aliens have the right to come here without obeying federal law, even while claiming their country of ancestry as their actual residence. Agencies connected to immigration view themselves as providers of customer service to all—documented or not.

Sen. John Kyl (R-Ariz.) and John Cornyn (R-Tex.) sent a letter to Dept. of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano. That letter addressed a small part of a complicated system.

The Washington Times said the senators were asking about memos that appeared to “curtail deportations.”

Revisiting statements by Bush advisers, jurists and scholars on the 14th amendment

Pt. 2 of 2

It is my opinion that the 1982 footnote ushering in the so-called anchor baby phenomenon was purely political. In the context of those times, illegal immigration had become a political topic but the American public was less informed because there was less information available via the Internet.

Three Democrats wrote the 1986 amnesty bill but it was supported by President Ronald Reagan and Republican leaders in the Senate as well as Democrat leaders in the House. Senators Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) and the late Ted Kennedy (R-Mass.) assisted.

Underground immigration rumbles with no-confidence vote in ICE leaders

Updated on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 5:48PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

When the US Government acts to undermine federal law, it can take awhile for information to surface. After some media ran stories about Immigration and Customs officials’ intent to ‘make detention centers more humane,’ a new story is making the rounds. Officers and agents have issued a ‘no confidence’ vote in  assistant secretary of Homeland Security for ICE John Morton and Office of Detention Policy and Planning assistant director Phyllis Coven.
