Corporate players like Google and AT & T require big debate on Net neutrality

If you’re not clear about the term ‘Net neutrality,’ don’t feel lonesome. It’s a complicated issue with big corporate players and the government controlling the debate. But decisions and consequences of those decisions about the Internet can have a profound impact on how consumers use the Internet and what content we have access to.

The Libertarian-leaning Center for Individual Freedom calls Net neutrality ‘government’s newest takeover plan’ and ‘corporate welfare for Google.’

What does Matt Drudge have in common with ancient Roman poet Horace?

Today Matt Drudge posted a thank you on his Website The Drudge Report. Drudge said August, 2008,  was the most-visited month in his site’s 13-year history. The figures he cited would make any publisher drool—the page loaded 614,577,960 times, with 14,163,025 uniques. This smashed his previous high set in March. Drudge saw something early on that many in media didn't see; he was sort of like the ancient Roman poet Horace in that regard.

I confess an intellectual crush on Drudge.

Former Luddite learns computerese—McCain will have no problems

How important is it for a president—for anyone, really—to be computer savvy? That question is floating around various media right now, and a columnist at PC Magazine wrote a very thoughtful essay about the subject. He wrote the column in response to Sen. John McCain’s remarks about not using the Internet—the senator says he has others get him what he needs online. Tech types are concerned about that, because of issues like Net neutrality, spyware and countless other issues. I’m not too worried, and here’s why.
