The battle for the US Senate seat vacated by Mel Martinez (R) just got hotter. ‘Records show Rubio spent thousands with GOP credit card,’ blared the headline in the St. Petersburg Times.
Gov. Charlie Crist has been doing more TV appearances, with certain sensitive actions on his part apparently forgotten.
The Democrat candidates have a tiff of their own going. We predicted this would be the most interesting race of the season and it appears our prophecy is coming true.
ASSAULT ON RUBIO
Rubio is the frontrunner among all candidates according to polls, so it’s natural he’s on the receiving end of some covert actions. Someone—now who might that have been?—leaked Republican Party of Florida credit card statements to media and—wonder of wonders—the only statements leaked were Rubio’s. This occurred on the heels of former chair Jim Greer’s departure after questions were raised about (what else?) money.
The SPT listed about $1,300 in credit card expenses that could have been incurred in the course of Rubio’s work as well as some others. The paper admitted, several paragraphs down, “The majority of the expenses on Rubio's card covered travel costs as he trekked across the state and the country in his dual role as House speaker and party leader.”
