Democrats preen on immigration, cover up Obama’s previous obstruction in Senate

Let’s be real. The immigration debate is a political debate we’ve had before. Many times.

President Ronald Reagan got taken in by Democrats in his day, agreeing to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 because he actually believed Democrats when they agreed to secure the border. Didn’t happen. The end result was an influx of family members, largely from south of the border, who were poor in their own country and looking to upgrade their lifestyles in the U.S. because we offer generous welfare programs to our citizens.

When I see an influx of Eastern Europeans who are largely educated, I’ll believe Democrats are acting for the common good. At present, we, the American taxpayers, are basically Mexico’s largest charity.

Website starts petition to free former U.S. Marine from Mexican jail

The website Lone Survivor started a petition in hopes of getting U.S. Marine Jon Michael Hammar freed from a Mexican jail where he's confined on trumped up charges after allegedly being misinformed by U.S. Customs. (Screen snip: Lone Survivor)Jon Michael Hammar served in the U.S. Marine Corps and he lived to talk about his experiences in the Iraq War. At present, it looks like Hammar will spend Christmas in a Mexican jail media say is controlled by one of the most brutal cartels in that country.

This is a significant election year issue,  but not for the reasons the Left assumes.

Classism, prejudice in Mexico lead millions to slip across US southern border

Had you ever thought about what it’s like to live in Mexico? We assume so many people slip across the border simply because of jobs, or to obtain welfare and healthcare. That’s partly true—I’ve often said the U.S. government currently runs the world’s largest taxpayer funded charity.

But there are other reasons people leave Mexico, and those reasons are rarely addressed by US media.

Jerry Kammer at the Center for Immigration Studies wrote an article about classism in Mexico, and he pointed to a well-known writer in that country, Luis Rubio.

Avena decision upends pending Texas execution of Mexican rapist, murderer

Above the fold: the pending execution of Humberto Leal Garcia. Garcia, described by media as a Mexican national, was convicted of brutally raping and murdering a 16 year old girl in 1998 in Texas.

The UN, numerous amnesty groups and others lobbying for Garcia want the execution blocked because he didn’t get to call  Mexican consular officials when he was arrested.

As Israel defies Obama, Newsmax takes on his other border issue

When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the joint session of Congress on Tuesday, those who saw the broadcast were able to see a real statesman in action. That quality has been missing from top US leadership for quite some time. Netanyahu effectively turned aside President Barack Obama’s wish for Israel to return to the unviable 1967 borders, and the prime minister’s position is one most Americans understand. Israel could not sustain herself if a massive influx of people entered the country.

Obama appeared to be unconcerned about the impact of those potential refugees on Israel had his call for the 1967 borders been taken seriously by anyone outside leftwing policy wonk circles.

But Israel’s border issue isn’t the only one Obama failed to grasp, and that fact is glaringly obvious in the June, 2011, print issue of Newsmax.

Mexico’s criminal aliens a costly, harmful problem in US

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) asked the US Government Accountability Office to detail the impact of criminal aliens on the U.S. The results are very troubling and they suggest that if amnesty or a DREAM Act was passed, the agency responsible for implementing the legislation would not be able to handle it.
