Breaking News

The Republican National Committee is voting for party chair, and the first round brought a surprise or two. For one thing, Maria Cino came in ahead of Saul Anuzis and Ann Wagner. The committee is meeting at Gaylord National Resort Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland.

Reince Priebus got the most votes—he’s chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party.

RNC spending stories raise questions not addressed by media

The Republican Party is grabbing headlines that supporters would prefer not to grab. Pundits right and left are expounding about Party spending at the national level and in my home state of Florida.

We’re not talking about spendthrifting taxpayer money—that would be the bailiwick of the Democrats at present. We’re talking about private funds donated directly to the Party for whatever legal purpose the Party chooses to spend on. The Party is accountable to donors for that.

RNC chair Michael Steele appeared on Good Morning America. Steele answered questions from  George Stephanopoulos, Democrat stratetgist/adviser turned TV pundit on Monday. Steele talked about the national dustup over funds spent for a visit to a nightclub best described as alternative entertainment.

With 2010 in mind, Florida Republican women elect a dynamo as president

by Kay B. Day

Incoming FFRW president Cindy Graves of Jacksonville chatted with Sen. John Thrasher (R-Fla. 8) and Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Board chair Mike Hightower (right) at Thrasher's victory party after the race for Sen. Jim King's successor..At the Florida Federation of Republican Women Convention in Orlando in September, Cindy Graves was installed as the 2010 president of the organization. Graves, who married her high school sweetheart, is a retired PR professional. She says she is “the proud mother of 4 Republicans.” She is the elected Duval County Republican State Committeewoman and has an extensive background in campaigns at all levels. Along with Duval GOP chair Lenny Curry, Graves is co-host of What’s the Buzz?” a popular weekly radio show airing Thursdays at 5 p.m. on ABC 1320 WBOB in NE Florida.  And there's one issue that really gets to her personally.

HuffPo blogger distorts Steele’s remarks at Young Republicans convention

UPDATE: This gets even worse. After Steele said, "Ya'll come," the off-camera attendee appeared to say, "I'll bring the collard greens." Apparently the HuffPo blogger is prejudiced against (1)black people and (2)Southerners. The off-camera attendee exhibited some amazing racism with the collard greens statement. What will leftwing extremists think of next? H/T to Newsbusters for helping clarify the "collard greens" remark. I couldn't understand the speaker's accent. Real  Clear Politics went with collard greens too, so we'll take their word for it.

original post:

A blogger writing for the Huffington Post blog directory distorted a response by RNC chair Michael Steele to another blogger’s question at the Young Republicans convention in Indianapolis. The blogger provides a video. Ironically, the video disproves the blogger’s claim about Steele’s intent to return black people to the GOP. This blogger comes close to fabrication with the header, “Steele: I'll Woo Blacks To [sic] GOP With [sic] ‘Fried Chicken And [sic] Potato Salad.’" Steele never said, ‘I’ll woo blacks to GOP,’ but most won’t notice the positioning of the quotes in the header, especially since the pronoun 'I' is used.

Here are the facts.

A young man asks Steele a question. “I wanted to ask you regarding your inclusion of diverse populations in the Republican Party, what is your plan moving forward?”

Steele responds. "My plan is to say, 'Ya’ll come.' ‘Cause a lot of you are already here.”

Another attendee chimes in, “I’ll bring the _____________.” What he promised to bring isn’t clearly audible but it’s apparently something you’d bring to a social gathering. Laughter ensues.

Steele responds, “There you go. I got the fried chicken and potato salad.”

RNC chair battle in full swing as candidates vie for top spot

The battle for a new chairman for the Republican National Committee is in full swing, but it’s a battle that has been largely overlooked by traditional media.

C.)--GOPAC chairman Michael Steele spoke candidly on Monday about his goal to become chairman of the Republican National Committee. Explaining that his mother always told him if he wanted to do something he should “just get in there and do it,” he said he’s tired of hearing Republicans complaining. Steele summed up the GOP’s problems succinctly: lack of technology, lack of a message and lack of communications. “We’re running a 1980s playbook,” he added. Steele said he wants to see the party become more “21st century.” Steele's supporters are utilizing technology to get the word out.
