Maybe Holder was right about the US being a 'nation of cowards' on race

For more than a year, I followed the case of U.S. v. Ike Brown. That case, prosecuted and won by the Justice Dept. under President George W. Bush,  related to a man in Noxubee County, Miss.

J. Christian Adams, writing for Pajamas Media, said, ~ “Brown was the head of the Democratic Party in Noxubee County, a majority black county. The party ran the Democratic primaries, which served as de facto general elections, and Brown made no secret about his desire to see every government office in the county held by a black officeholder. Brown ran a Tammany Hall-style political operation. During one election, he literally stuffed illegal ballots he knew were marked for black candidates through an optical scanner in front of a crowd of angry citizens shouting provisions of Mississippi law at him.

“You ain’t dealing with Mississippi law, this is Ike Brown’s law,” he replied.

Brown organized teams of notary publics to roam the county collecting absentee ballots. In many cases, the notaries cast the ballots themselves instead of the voters.”~

AG Holder accused of ‘stalling’ voter intimidation fringe-wing case in Philly

A voter intimidation case dating to 2008 is allegedly being stonewalled by US Attorney General Eric Holder. Newsmax magazine said the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has set an April 12 deadline for Holder to respond.

During the presidential election members of the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense “ were videotaped confronting a cameraman and brandishing a nightstick outside a polling place,” said the magazine.

The US Report covered the voter intimidation story when it happened.

Will McCain pull a Reagan?

Sen. Barack Obama is the ultimate orator, but he comes off as oblique when he goes one-on-one. In the presidential forum at Columbia University, his answers didn’t ring authentic. McCain is the opposite. He’s not as strong at oratory as he is at down-to-earth. McCain’s advantage is McCain. You never know what he’ll come up with. His demeanor sometimes makes me think of Reagan, with an ability to surprise an opponent or a reporter with a quick quip or even a remark that bites.

Presidential debate at Ole Miss: energy is key to all

Tonight Sen. John McCain faces Sen. Barack Obama in the first presidential debate down yonder in Oxford, Mississippi, home of Ole Miss and William Faulkner. Ole Miss is straight out of ‘Gone with the Wind’—moss hanging from ancient oaks and residents talking with a Southern accent so defined it makes Jimmy Carter sound like a Yankee. Tonight’s the foreign policy debate and I hope the candidates will talk about energy because that's key to every problem we face. I also hope this won’t be one of those dry, dull, eye-glazing debates. Jim Lehrer is moderating and he’s about as lively as an empty chair, no disrespect intended.

C-Span hub gives you the goodies for presidential debate

C-Span offered a remarkable resource for voters and writers with convention hubs for both major political parties, and the network will do the same thing with the first presidential debate on Friday. The C-Span Debate Hub will not only stream the debate live. Blog and Twitter aggregators will keep viewers up-to-date with analyses and responses. There will even be a keyword tree. Wonder if Sen. Barack Obama’s famous ‘uh, uh, uh,’ or Sen. John McCain’s familiar ‘my friends' will be on the list alongside standards like taxes, service and all those other buzz words politics comprise. The hub will have all sorts of bells and whistles.
