NBC's most strange debate; questions about Terry Schiavo

Just when you thought the NBC GOP Presidential Debate in Florida couldn't get any stranger, one of the moderators asked about the Terry Schiavo case. That subject took up a lot of time.

Ironically former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich brought up a substantive point. He reminded the mods that murderers on Death Row get a great deal of opportunities for appeal.

The debate did not include any questions about Fast and Furious, Solyndra, SOPA, Agenda 21 or other topics many of us are interested in.

When South Carolina spoke, the nation listened

By Gene Retske

Former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich addressed supporters after his victory in the SC Primary on Saturday, Jan. 21. (Screen snip from campaign video)

In the past 12 hours, I have seen my beloved South Carolina maligned, scoffed at, questioned, mocked, and, now disregarded.

The talking heads on the Sunday morning shows, many of whom were recently suggesting that the winner in South Carolina was almost certain to go on to take the nomination, were now changing their narrative. Let us all malign South Carolina, tea partiers, Newt and possibly God

SC Election Commission map shows districts won by Gingrich and Romney. Gingrich almost took the whole state, as evidenced by a sea of green. (SC state government)

Well, that was a low blow to the Palmetto State.

Updated on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 6:09PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

The Mitt Romney campaign, smarting perhaps at the possibility of another loss, issued a statement congratulating former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich on the ‘anniversary’ marking the date of his reprimand by Congress.  The statement was released on the day of the South Carolina Primary, January 21.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich was supposed to meet up with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at Tommy’s Ham House in Greenville on Saturday morning. According to various accounts, Romney arrived early.

Fox News said Romney stayed about 15 minutes and the tone of his remarks seemed to “signal preparedness for defeat.”

Gingrich showed up—Fox said the crowd was very large for both candidates—and asked, “Where’s Mitt?”

Notes on candidates after CNN debate as S.C. awaits Primary

Video: Gingrich's campaign has released a new commercial sharply focused on his Democrat opponent. This strategy by the campaign stands in contrast to negative approaches that in the end, often harm the candidate they are meant to help.

The January 19 GOP Presidential Debate in Charleston started off in typical fashion, but within minutes, fireworks were blasting.

Newt triumphs in CNN debate despite bizarre questions

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich won the CNN debate on Thursday by scoring a touchdown in opening minutes of the event. CNN's John King astounded the audience by leading with a banal question about Gingrich's ex-wife.
