Tenth Amendment Center corrects Maddow’s revisionist nullification history

The new socialist buzzword is ‘extremist’, a term statists use to label anyone who disagrees with the concept of Nanny rule as opposed to wise governance. The Tenth Amendment Center, an organization growing in influence among those who respect and understand the US Constitution, responds to Maddow’s revisionist history on nullification with a formal statement.

On Tuesday, MSNBC pundit Rachel Maddow used the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War as an occasion to paint advocates of state sovereignty and the principle of nullification as racist “neo-confederates.”

Nullification Summit to focus on states stopping unconstitutional laws

States’ rights are in the air, along with a renewed focus on the US Constitution, and The Tenth Amendment Center will hold a summit to inform the public how to “stop federal mandates at the state border.” The Florida Tenth Amendment Summit will be held in Orlando at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate on 10-10-10—there’s a nice touch of marketing savvy in the selection of that date.

An announcement from TAC pointed out momentum in the states’ rights movement as Virginia, Utah, Idaho and others fight Obamacare. Occupying the top media narrative right now is Arizona’s effort to deal with the federal failure to stem the tide of undocumented aliens. Washington State, Oklahoma and Tennessee are fighting Capt-and-Trade legislation. Those are just a few efforts by the states; others are working to stop the Real I.D. Act and to protect gun rights.

Book sales climb as ‘Nullification’ taps national psyche

By Kay B. Day

Thomas E. Woods, Jr.'s new book 'Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century' (Regnery) is climbing rapidly in sales. The new book ‘Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century’ by Thomas E. Woods, Jr. was technically released on Monday, but it’s already climbed to the top of amazon.com listings, sitting happily at #37. The book apparently has tapped into the national psyche, touching a nerve with centrists, conservatives and libertarians who believe the federal government has exceeded limits established by the US Constitution.

The New American explains the thesis in an excellent review: “Nullification is an indispensable book about what could become the most effective means of stopping an out-of-control federal government: nullification. ‘Nullification’ is simply an act by states (and occasionally individuals) to resist unconstitutional federal laws. The term ‘nullification’ was coined by Thomas Jefferson in his 1798 Kentucky Resolutions that protested the Alien and Sedition Acts' unconstitutional criminal ban on criticism of the President.”

L. A. think tank says states should nullify healthcare bill

Screen snip of Tenth Amendment Center's Facebook Page. where more than 12,000 members come for news and information.Relying on a federal lawsuit to invalidate the new Health Care Reform Law is not only an uncertain endeavor in the face of decades of bad Supreme Court precedent; it could also take years to go anywhere, according to the Tenth Amendment Center. “The reality is this, considering a lawsuit as the primary response leaves the people in opposition holding the bag,” says Michael Boldin, founder of the Center. “That's why we advocate a solution to this mess that leaves the people, not the courts, in charge."

(Los Angeles, CA)"Prominent founders such as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison warned us that if the federal government ever became the sole and exclusive arbiter of its own powers, those powers would continue to grow, regardless of elections, courts, separation of powers or other much-vaunted checks and balances in our system," said Michael Boldin, founder of the Tenth Amendment Center.
