Perry rising to top as GOP candidates jockey for position

Sen. Jim DeMint organized a Presidential Forum scheduled for Sept. 5 in Columbia, SC. DeMint is shown here as he arrived at the Red State Gathering in Charleston in August. (Photo by Kay B. Day/The US Report)President Barack Obama technically has the bully pulpit, but for the last couple of weeks, the GOP presidential candidates have had the drama. Let’s face it. Most Americans aren’t glued to the TV watching Where in the World is Muammar Gadaffi?

Even with Democrats in Congress bashing the tea partiers (because the Dems’ record is dismal), the GOP candidate drama still holds center stage. Part of the reason for that is fluidity; there may be frontrunners but it's still early.

Crist hack Kennedy assails Rubio supporters in political class war

The St. Petersburg Times let its leftwing spirit dominate a story* on Thursday. TUSR editor Kay B. Day said, "The Republican power structure in South Carolina has once again caused us to lift our eyebrows and wonder what in the hell they are thinking in the Palmetto State."

by Chris Carter

Bill Connor has a solid record of military service. Connor is running in the Primary for Lt. Governor of South Carolina.Of all the dirty campaign tricks available to politicians, a candidate for South Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor has used perhaps one of the dirtiest.

While other candidates are “misrepresenting” their military service in order to advance their campaigns, Larry Richter was willing to drop to the level of denigrating the proven combat record of primary opponent Bill Connor, who served in Afghanistan.

The Marco Rubio campaign: From evolution to revolution

Commentary by Donna Barrow

Last May I wrote an article detailing my evolution from “super voter” to “grassroots activist.”  I wrote that the U.S. Senate race between Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist is what it is all about for a political junkie like me because there is nothing more exciting and motivating than a candidate I am passionate about. I also stated that I believed that this race is for the heart and soul of the Republican Party, and that many super voters would have the same epiphany I had in 2004 and realize now is the time to take that next evolutionary step from super voter to grassroots volunteer. Others have come forward to do so; the numbers grow daily. [Commentary continues after video.]
