What is it with Democrats? Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius tossed the race card at the audience at a campaign appearance on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama, “Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?” Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, a columnist for a daily newspaper is again forecasting a race war if Obama doesn’t win. Scare tactics? Stooping to any level to ensure a vote for your candidate, using guilt and fear to corner votes where possible? Such tactics are dangerous because those same tactics encourage hate and fear-mongering in people of all colors. Strikes me Sebelius hasn’t noticed anything of note in the news lately, and there’s been plenty out there to dissuade me from voting for anyone who’d bring in 4 more years of Pelosi and Reid.

If you don’t plan to vote for Sen. Barack Obama for president and if you are white and presumably vote for Sen. John McCain, you are a racist. So says Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief of The Slate Group and not coincidentally, author of The Bush Tragedy. Weisberg has an op-ed in Slate—“Racism is the only reason Obama might lose.”
Weisberg’s commentary fell on my brain the same way music by ABBA does when I’m stuck in an elevator. Weisberg is kind of right about racism, though, but one major aspect escaped his intellect. Consider these figures from the New York Times poll Weisberg cites to prove that white people won’t vote for Obama because he’s [one-half] black.
