Democrat Congress ignored warnings on payout of billions to illegals

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) preened for TV cameras on Thursday, proud of her efforts to enable a tax increase on what she and her fellow Democrats call the “wealthy.” But Pelosi and Senate leader Harry Reid have ignored a series of warnings from the U.S. Treasury Dept. about the payout of billions in tax refunds to illegal aliens. Many Americans believe you have to have a social security number to get such payouts—you don’t.

Democrat, now Republican, legislator decries federal healthcare takeover

Updated on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 1:41PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

By Kay B. Day

Rep. Parker Griffith (R-Ala.) switched to the GOP in December, 2009. He is an outspoken critic of fiscal policies current Democrat leaders endorse. [Photo from Rep. Griffith's US House website.]Dr. Parker Griffith represents Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District and the former Democrat legislator is no fan of Obama/Pelosi-care. As a matter of fact, the healthcare boondoggle Democrats are rumored to be so desperate to pass they may use reconciliation is a major reason Griffith crossed Party lines to become a Republican in December. Griffith’s comments as part of the weekly Republican address reflect the impossibility of being a fiscal conservative in today’s Democrat Party.

Following healthcare summit on Twitter

Updated on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 1:33PM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

Sen. Max Baucus speaks at the Healthcare Summit.

10 a.m.-11 a.m.

I'm following the healthcare summit and will do an analysis. I am commenting via Twitter as the alleged summit takes place. We're one hour into the so-called summit. Three Democrats have spoken; one Republican has spoken. Democrats have trotted out straw men. Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) made serious attempts to look like a human being instead of a robot. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) went on and on in an attempt to look compassionate. Obama opened the summit and after listening to Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Pelosi and Reid, the president is talking again.

I've put my commentary in brackets. Some of this is off the cuff.

[What no one admits: the government has manipulated the healthcare market since starting Medicaid and Medicare. Entitlements have raised the cost for those of us in the private market. No one talks about that.]

[Hoyer's straw woman has a tumor. Maladies galore.][Democrats definitely control the floor and the time in this 'summit.']

For Obama’s federal budget, we need a few ‘locofocos’

Pt. 1 in a series ‘Seeking Redress of Grievances’
Main Street USA

Can you think of anything crazier than proposing record levels of spending amid the hard economic times Main Street, USA faces right now? That’s exactly what President Barack Obama’s administration wants in the budget—an increase of 5.7 percent to $3.72 trillion. That increase, among other items,  will provide more money to the states for Medicaid, increase funds for welfare programs like food stamps and the homeless and pay lip service to so-called ‘middle class’ taxpayers by giving them a small break in the neighborhood of $400 per individual.

Lesson one in Reality Government: What the government spends, we must provide, every single one of us either through the front door or the back.

As we face a financial quagmire, the administration is also adding or has added more federal workers. The Washington Times said most of the increase will be in civilian workers—“153,000 workers, to 1.43 million people, in fiscal 2010.” Remember to add applicable taxes, retirement and insurance to those employees’ salaries.

[Image from NASA]That those claiming to lead the government would consider increasing a budget as well as the federal payroll tells me we need a few ‘locofocos.’

Why do Democrats in Congress get free media pass?

A number of Democrats in Congress have received a free ride despite behavior that many of us consider unethical perhaps even illegal. As a taxpayer, I’m pretty disgusted with the double standard for ethics. Why do Democratic senators and representatives get a complete pass from media? Maybe it's because traditional journalism really is dead. There are a number of questionable situations involving senators and representatives, but no one's asking questions and many of the most questionable culprits are keeping key committee assignments.

After Democrats attack Joe the Plumber, who's next? Wanda the Waitress.

If you ask me, Joe the Plumber should win the Pulitzer. He did the job mass media has steadfastly refused to do. He actually had the nerve to ask Sen. Barack Obama, who came into his neighborhood one afternoon when Joe was tossing the football with his kid, a tax question. What happened next? McCain mentioned Joe and the next thing you know, everybody from the Associated Press to ABC’s Diane Sawyer is grilling the guy. That’s what Joe got for exercising his freedom of speech rights. Wonder when media will get around to grilling the Democratic plants in the YouTube debate? But the main problem with mass media right now is a complete refusal to ask the Democratic Party hard questions. Rarely do they get asked any questions, and the truth is, if Democrats get that supermajority they're lusting after, Joe will pay, Wanda will pay and unless you're in the welfare income range, you will pay in one way or another.
