For Romney: Leadership with a steady hand and a “united America” 

Photo: Camera shot of C-SPAN screen/The US ReportThe Republican National Convention concluded on Thursday night in Tampa when former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney accepted the nomination to oppose the Democrat, President Barack Obama, in November.

Regardless of standard infighting that always rumbles through any party in the primary season, Republicans appeared to be cohesive if enthusiasm is a measure.

Romney doesn’t go theatrical—he opts for a steady hand.

Sweet surprise at RNC—that’s G.E. Smith on guitar

The Republican National Convention concludes on Thursday, Aug. 30. (Graphic: RNC)I’ve been covering the Republican National Convention on C-SPAN—nothing is omitted in the coverage. I live with musicians, so I always pay attention to music.

On Tuesday evening, I focused on a guitarist playing with the band during breaks between speakers, and before my husband could say it, I did. That’s G.E. Smith!

Local media short shrifted Mrs. Romney’s spectacular moment at RNC

(Screen snip, video at RNC)By all accounts, Ann Romney delivered exactly what she needed to deliver when she spoke at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night. Mrs. Romney didn’t attempt a sterile platform speech. Instead, she focused on the personal side of her husband, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Mrs. Romney's speech drew a lot of applause and cheers, but you'd never have known it if you were watching the late night news here in North Florida.
